I wrote a song called "Superstar" which I sent to Richard and Karen in 1979. I suppose we would have had to rethink the title if they had recorded it, but it was about the difficulties of a famous couple: "We were so good together They would watch us and take note Of everything we said and wrote
We were so fine together When the spotlight hit our cars We would descend among the crowd as superstars
Never to know, they were never to know Of the life we lived Show after show, covering up as we'd go All the damages
We were fine for awhile at the start The mistake was to take it to heart To believe we were gold as the records we made When in fact we were cold and afraid
They call us Superstar They don't care who we really are Superstar If we'll just be what they need"
Beautiful lyric... thank you for sharing Palma.
As for Carpenters sounding dated - for some reason they don't sound dated to me - they sound rejuvenating.
And speaking of rejuvenating. It is now time for us to close the doors.
I just want to take this opprotunity to say thank you to all that showed up tonight. Thank you: Dave Kathy (smoothie) Enigma Roland thecopey Nashville guest makapip Cam GoodOldDreams heartwaves and all the others who popped in
And Palma I thank you very much for all the beautiful music you have shared with us. I look forward to getting to know more of your music in the near future. Thank you very much for spending the last five hours with us and I hope we can do it again. Good night all.
Doors will close in five minutes - enough for you to post your goodbyes.

I absolutely love it, Palma! Your poetic wording is wonderful....explains the life of a Superstar beautifully, and sadly.
Being a Superstar is never how it looks to the public eye. Unless you're in the shoes of a "Superstar", you just never really know all they have to do to earn that title!!!! We see the glory side of it all, but it's often not that way at all.....although they have their moments of glory and fun. One has to sacrifice alot to stand that high upon a pedistal.....not too many of us could last too long there, nor would want to if we really new what it took to stay on top.
Thanks for sharing the lyrics to that song, Palma.....love them! You truly do have a way with words!!!

Oh, I have just loved this experience. Let's do it again, anytime you wish, Rick. I am very moved by the comments of the guests. Thank you for a beautiful debut party, flowers, candy, guests, and a wonderful host who "found" me. I look forward to sharing the rest of the story with you all in the next two months, and would love to hear from all of you, in any way you chose. Let's all put Karen in our hearts and Richard, too, and listen to them throughout the Christmas season. Their music will never die. See you soon! Palma
Goodbye Palma.....loved chatting with you.....you're one special lady! So blessed to know you!! Hope to do this again sometime! Thanks for this, Rick......you gave us all a wonderful time here. And goobye everyone.....luv ya's. Until next time! <><
