I think we should go until January 12, 2008 at 4:31 p.m. (PST) as the first listings of songs were on that day 2007 at 4:32 p.m. (PST)... that will give us one complete fair year of music hearings. Oh and by the way please add another... one of each... Solitaire We've Only Just Begun

This is a weird one. I had a dream last night that I was walking along with someone and they said to me "listen, it's "Weve Only Just Begun"". Apparently, in my dream, we were walking in a mall or something and they heard it over the speakers above and alerted me to it. How weird is that???!!!
I remember hearing it too!!!!

That is an interesting dream! It seems like a few times a year one or more of us has a Carpenters related dream or series of dreams.
Today I heard "Solitaire" & "Rainy Days & Mondays."
I can go along with the 2007 log going until 1-12-08. If we do a 2008 log, I guess the songs from 1-1-08 through 1-12-08 would conut for both years.

Here's a question. How many people would be interested in keeping a log for 2008? It seems that a log for 2008 would turn out very similar results as what will end up on our 2007 log. Just a thought. Anyhow here is what I've heard in the past few days... "We've Only Just Begun" - seven times "Goodbye To Love" - four times "Only Yesterday" - three times "Sweet Sweet Smile" - one time "Solitaire" - three times "Please Mr. Postman" - two times "Superstar" - three times "Jambalaya" - one time "All You Get From Love Is A Love Song" - one time "Mr. Guder" - one time "This Masquerade" - three times "I Won't Last A Day Without You" - one time "Making Love In The Afternoon" (Karen solo) - one time "Lovelines" (from Karen Carpenter solo) - one time "Guess I Just Lost My Head" (Karen solo) - one time "Rainy Days And Mondays" - one time "Hurting Each Other" - one time "Those Good Old Dreams" - one time Karen/Ella Medley - one time (this one is actually becoming pretty popular on the internet) "Suntory Pop Jingle #1" - one time "Suntory Pop Jingle #2" - one time "I Just Fall In Love Again" - one time "Bless The Beasts And Children" - one time "Close To You" - one time "Calling Occupants..." - one time These are mostly internet radio hears thanks to the wonderful internet station Pop Goes The 70's. They play blocks of three or four Carpenters songs at a time. Here is the link to Pop Goes The 70's: www.live365.com/stations/loran2005bYou may be wondering why I have this huge slew of listings. I have just discovered about another 2 dozen stations playing Carpenters on the internet... I will get the URL's to you. One of those stations is called Radio Free A&M... they love Karen's solo album and "Horizon". And I've been channel surfing to catch Carpenters songs. I work at home on my computer most days so I have a good amount of time to listen to the internet radio. Right now Pop Goes The 70's is playing "Mama Mia" by ABBA! And now they've just started playing "Let Your Love Flow" by The Bellamy Brothers... I love this song... and now Pop Goes The 70's is playing "Boogie Feever" by The Sylvers.

O.E., please add these internet radio hears for me: This Masquerade All You Get from Love is a Love Song Thanks! Hey Dreams... so glad you've had a chance to discover Pop Goes The 70's. They are a great station. I love them just for the reason you stated they play a good amount of album tracks and lesser known songs along with the well known hits. It's not just the same ten or so Carpenters songs over and over. Yesterday they played one of my favorite ABBA album tracks named "Dance (While The Music Still Goes On)"... that's one you don't hear all the time on the radio. I'll come back with the URL's to the other radio stations I listen to - which play Carpenters music... there's a lot of them on the internet. One of my favorites is called Radio Free A&M... I especially love this station as they play songs from Karen's solo album. In a few days I'll come back again with another list of Carpenters/Karen songs I've heard on internet radio/regular radio/public places, etc. I'm keeping track of them in my notebook.

I haven't been listening to internet or other radio as much... but still have a good amount to list from the past eleven or twelve days... We've Only Just Begun- 16 Superstar-4 Only Yesterday- 4 Goodbye To Love-3 Solitaire- 3 A Song For You- 1 It's Going To Take Some Time- 1 Sweet Sweet Smile- 2 Jambalaya- 2 Please Mr. Postman- 3 This Masquerade- 4 Lovelines- 1 Rainy Days & Mondays-2 All You Get From Love Is A Love Song- 4 Guess I Just Lost My Head- 1 Karen/Ella Medley-1 Make Believe It's Your First Time (from Karen's solo album) - 1 * Road Ode- 1 Making Love In The Afternoon- 1 Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft- 1 Happy-1 If I Had You (from Karen's solo album) 1 * note since there are two recordings of "Make Believe It's Your First Time" I made note that the one I heard is from Karen's solo album. O.E. I was thinking about the cut off date for this log... and I feel that it should end on December 31... and a new log should start on January 1... this I make mention because originally after I had stated that it should cut of on a certain date... I think it was January 11 or 12... you mentioned that you would overlap some of the songs heard from Jan 1 to 11 onto the 2008 log... So I'm thinking instead of overlapping hears we might as well make it a true 2007 and end it at midnight on December 31... that seems the most logical.

Thanks to everyone (Rick and WJ are the most frequent) for the reports. Regarding the cut-off day for the 2007 log: so far there hasn't been much interaction regarding a possible 2008 log. It really isn't much trouble keeping the log but the 2 main questions, I guess are: 1-does the log serve a useful purpose, either in inspiring members, or giving us documentation for the quite heavy airplay The Carpenters receive, in hopefully attracting more members? (I think the answer is yes, but the group should objectively consider the situation), and 2-are people willing to continue to take the time to keep record of their hears and report them for another year? If we decide to do a 2008 log, then yes, let's end the 2007 log of 12-31 and start on 1-1-08 with the new, but if we decide against a 2008 log, I would recommend we go with Rick's original idea of going until about Jan. 12, so that the 2007 log reflects an entire year.
