My SOTD is Don't Be Afraid I was not having the greatest of days and this song popped into my head and brought a smile to my face and lifted my spirits. Thanks Carpenters especially Karen I needed that.

I went to a beautiful candlelight ceremony at the college I work at and it makes me think of Karen singing "Ave Maria" which will be my song of the day.

I have two songs of the day.
The first is the wonderful Christmas tune "Home For The Holidays". I just can't get enough of this song. Karen does a beautiful job with it.
The other is "Two Sides". We've been discussing this song on another thread and I've had this one on my mind for the past few days.

I like the song "Little Girl Blue" and also "Where do I GO From Here". On some sections of the lyrics there is a warbling effect sound on Karen's voice. "Like fallen leaves on windy da^aa....aaa^^...yyyys"

My song of the day is a grouping of songs, "Bacharach/David Medley". I really enjoy listening to this upbeat collection of Bacharach tunes. Karen and Richard did a fine job with this medley of songs.
My other song of the day is "B'wana She No Home". I love this song for many reasons. First because Karen and Richard broke out of the mold of the typical love song. I just love it when Carpenters would step out of their norm and do something totally opposite of their trademark sound. The good thing about it is they were so good at most any style of music that they were able to do these other type songs and do them extremely well. I feel the musicianship and arrangement of this song is Carpenters at their very best.
Just one more song of the day. From Karen's solo "Guess I Just Lost My head". I love this somewhat playful smooth jazz tune. Karen sings in a new attitude. I love every song from Karen's outstanding solo album. It is great to hear Karen's voice in a different yet appealing setting of music. Karen really put her heart into this album - she really loved it.

My song of the day is "Boat To Sail". I love this somewhat off-beat Carpenters tune. It shows their versatility in style and recording technique. I really enjoy the somewhat experimental sounds of the vibes and echoing vocals. I also like Tony Peluso's guitar chords in this one.

The first songs that came to mind when i saw these new, great, pictures is "Ordinary Fool" and "Sandy" because Karen looks smooth and elegant, and the songs have a silky smooth feel to it. And of course that was playing while online here.

Nice Beth I still remember when you first made this song your SOTD I am glad you have chosen such a nice posative song for your favorite Carpenters song. My SOTD is more of a performance than a song its a version of the Bacharach Medley the one performed on the live in Australia video. I love the truely live performance here I also love the fact that some songs like Any Day Now are done here that were not in the original Medley on their Carpenters record. However the best part of this performance for me is the almost full version of Baby Its You that is sang here by Karen. The medley is live but Karen sound every bit as great as she did in the studio. An Amazing performance of Karen on drums and singing live as well as a great version of the Bacharach Medley and my SOTD.

These days I often think about two of the C's seemingly unrelated tunes "Top of the World" and "Desperado." Why? Of late the weather here in San Francisco has been unseasonably bright, clear, warm and then cold, overcast and rainy.
I went to the top of Twin Peaks a couple of days ago to take in the grand vista of the city and the mountains on the horizon as far as the Berkeley hills and Mount Diablo in the Eastbay. The apt lyrics and music of "Top of the World" came right to mind ("... not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes ... I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation ...").
I have also been following the short story, movie, awards and tremendous audience response associated with "Brokeback Mountain." "Desperado" is a fitting depiction of the stoic lead character Ennis. With the clear but bone-chilling weather, the lyrics seem even more appropriate ("... don't your feet get cold in the wintertime, sky won't snow and the sun won't shine ... it may be raining, but there's a rainbow above you ...").
The chameleon weather truly evokes the music of the C's!
