;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D My song of the day is a medley. And just part of the medley at that. Karen's outstanding drum solo from "Live At The Palladium" is fantastic. I call it the "Gershwin Medley". As it contains all George and Ira Gershwin songs; "Strike Up The Band", "S'Wonderful", and "Fascinatin' Rhythm". What a dynamic medley. If you don't yet own "Live At The Palladium" this is a must for you.

I remember seeing her do something similar on one of the TV shows with blocks, etc., but would love to have been able to catch her (watch her) play this one on her trap set. There are two drummers on the "Live" album - Karen is only one - they play back and forth at each other. It's awesome. And, one can hear so easily that Karen is having the time of her life playing it. It's wonderful, and what a song for the day. Great choice. Best, Tim

Just so I'm not corrected, I know the song is titled "Invocation" but I have always referred to it as "Offering" as the Ticket to Ride album was originally called that.
It's short, but so expressive and fits perfectly to his time of year for me.

It's short, but so expressive and fits perfectly to his time of year for me. Beaner I also like this song and its sister song Benediction I am glad you made the second post because I was not sure what song you were referring to and yes it could have easily been called Offering a truely beautiful song I really love the range shown by K&R here. My SOTD is Love Me For What I Am from Horizon. Well sung as usual but I just love the lyrics to this one. Forget trying to make an ideal Karen just love Karen for being Karen could not be said better (I say Karen cause it really sounds like shes giving a message in this one almost telling me to love her for what she is hope that does not sound too weird). The take me for what I am or leave me message is what really stands out in this song and it is such a beautiful song to boot. It just wont get out of my head for now. I am discovering new sounds on this Horizon album everytime I listen to it making a great record even greater. @& &^ *%

I am discovering new sounds on this Horizon album everytime I listen to it making a great record even greater. Yes, "Horizon" is such an excellent album. There are so many nuances and textures. The music is really deep and rich. And Karen's voice was at it's very best. "Horizon" would be a wonderful choice to be remixed for SACD. My song of the day is "Please Mr. Postman". I just love this upbeat funloving song. I've been on a kick of listening to everything that Karen plays drums on. I really wish that she would have played drums on more songs.

watched one of the videos where R. and K. were performing with the N. Riddle orchestra, and they sing "Make it Easy on Yourself"...and I really like it...Karen sings as usual from the heart and seems to be looking right into your very soul when she is so focused on the camera... It has a good message...that's ok if you're gonna leave just do it,I can't do anything to change your mind...so make it easy as you can because it hurts no matter what..

I really love the medley that Karen and Ella Fitzgerald did on "As Time Goes By", particularly "Don't Get Around Here Much Anymore" (I think that's its name). They do so great together on this and I can remember watching the tv special where you could tell how proud Karen was to be singing with such a legend.

"For All We Know" is my song of the day. I heard the song today in my journeys driving from one place to another. This is really a classic tune. I love the lyric. But more so I love Karen's voice in this song. One of her best performances.

$% My song of the day is the fun and upbeat "Sweet Sweet Smile". I love this song for a few reasons. 1. It's a good time upbeat country song. 2. Karen sounds like she enjoyed recording this song. 3. I love the Juice Newton who wrote this song.

$@ Beth, isn't that just so typically wonderful how the C's could always make us feel better for a while...or at least give us the feeling they really could connect up with whatever we were feeling?! And yes, I just love For All We Know...such a classic! I was dusting around my old record player and records, and as always, I have to listen to A Kind of Hush album. So, I have Boat to Sail on my mind. It's a smooth relaxing song...and has that tropical kind of music there ...I never was too crazy about going in a boat, but the times that I have, have been fun. a rather strange statement there...hmmm

My song of the day comes from Karen's unreleased solo songs. "Keep My Lovelight Burning". This song is a real shaker and mover. I just love it. Karen's vocal timing is immpeccable. She's right on, on every note. She does not miss a beat. And I love the rousing electric guitar solo which really livens things up. A dance club hit all the way. It's crunchy and danceable at the same time. Excellent strong guitar rhythms. I just love this sound for Karen. She obviously wanted to enter the 80's as a forward thinking modern woman. This I found very attractive in her. She didn't want to be that "little girl blue" anymore. She really wanted to burst out on the scene in a bold new way. And I love that about Karen. She wanted to shine, she wanted to smile, she wanted to dance, she wanted to be upbeat. And that's exactly what she gave us with great songs like "Keep My Lovelight Burning". sorry for rambling...
