Yeah, I heard that too. I guess RC said in concert at the TOP OF THE WORLD fundraiser, recently, that it would be on the bottled water commercial and that everyone would get sick of it. I won't. That is one of my fave songs!!

Yeah Carpenters and Aquafina. Great music and great water are a great mix! That's quite a feather in Richard Carpenter's cap! I haven't heard the commercial yet, but am looking forward to it. I hope more of the same will follow suit.
Wouldn't the name Top Of The World airlines be a great name for a company!!!

There was a Simpsons rerun where Sideshow Bob (Krusty The Clown's archnemesis) gets paroled from prison and his brother stands on top of a shoddy dam and sings "Top Of The World" and all of a sudden, the Springfield Dam broke and Bart and Lisa saved Sideshow's life.

^^ Haven't caught that ad yet...but glad to hear of it. Top of...would be a great name for an airline company too. In some interview on computer, Richard said that even though it sounds like an easy song to sing..that it was a "bear" to record. I don't think I'd heard that expression and thought that was kinda funny. ^^

Well, I'm not in a *TV period* these days, but, if I was, I would sure have a VHS tape ready...
This is great news.

Hey Rob, funny you should talk about an airline being named Top of the World. I'm not sure whether you got to see my project that is a work in progess devoted to the Carpenters, so I'll send you the picture trail link. Sign my guestbook too so I know you visited and let me know what you think. In particular, check out the name of my airport. www.picturetrail.com/nymag

!@ hey...Saw the ad...!! :-[To just hear the song on the tv again...don't recall much of what was going on in it other than something like drink more water...I was so surprised and excited to hear it! It was like hearing it for the very first time...even though I have listened to it countless times! Yay! :-[and what a refreshing commercial...so many ads have too much loud, yet up-to-date, crazy music...that's it's better to press the mute button...

Richard mentioned TOTW being used as new theme tune for Aquafina water ....how ironic ....whenever I purchase mineral water in USA ....it is always : AQUAFINA ... ....!! Think Richard's aside about everyone possibly getting sick of hearing TOTW via advert was more with adverts running for months ....could be overkill for this classsic ? Are there just TV adverts or any Radio / Print Magazine adverts with some lyrics attached .... ? Hopefully will catch up with adverts at some point ....being non -USA based ...could be some time . Like Rick mentioned ...TOTW adverts should boost GOLD 2CD set , whole Carpenters catalog and ideally As Time Goes By ....still neglected by USA Universal / A&M ...ideal would be a promo single being issued for Radio / video stations with TOTW headlined .....would boost Carpenters profile again on USA Radio ..... Several other USA friends have seen Aquafina adverts -very impressed and love use of TOTW on this .... Wonder whether there will be Radio & Print Adverts as well over next few weeks ? Will be interesting to see impact on Carpenters catalog , GOLD 2CD & As Time Goes By sales over rest of 2004 .... Peter

I was just beginning to fall asleep last night (had the TV on with snooze set to turn TV off at 10:30 p.m.) and I heard "Top Of The World" I opened my eyes to watch commercial. It's such a nice love filled commercial with person after person sharing friendly hugs.

???I agree I love the commercial...mainly cuz of the C's singing...It really is great water and the whole message fits in really well with making folks feel good, especially if you like bottled water...There currently seems to be several ads that use popular songs to catch the attention of viewers and it works. Karen's voice as always, fits in well cuz her voice is clear and refreshing...uncomplicated, and easy on the ears.
