I was just curious as to whether there has been anymore talk of another fan gathering like the one a few years back. I know there was mention of another one possible in the works but haven't heard anymore.
It would be great to see all of us together with all the Carpenter nostalgia we share. We could all go around to all the pertinent places including the new performing arts center, perhaps end up at Karen's memorial site where we all can reflect and be close to her again.

Not sure if Carpenters fans will be meeting up at special gathering for October 2nd Newhart / Richard Carpenter Center concert .... At last TOTW 2 benefit ....we all met up at Queen Mary for a special brunch .....great get together ....hope we arrange again at TOTW 3 ( March 2005...) Certainly would love to arrange UK convention ....just need the time and above all Venue for fans to gather & enjoy themselves ....Carpenters style ..... Peter

We've been loosely discussing a fan get together on this forum on and off. I'm thinking sometime in late summer 2005 or early 2006. This may give people enough time to save and plan for this event. Southern California seems to be the location people keep mentioning as the meeting grounds. we can visit Performing Arts Center, different locations in Downey, even drive to the location where A&M Records used to be. Just ideas...

I know this is going to sound "far out there", but now that Richard has a website, perhaps we could ask him if we could meet him when we plan a fan get together. I really don't think it's that outrageous a request given our love and devotion to him and Karen. Wouldn't it be terrific if we could meet him and share our thoughts with him. I think it's not only possible, but also a very good idea. We could arrange to stay in the same hotel and have a meeting at that location. I'm really serious about this.

How about Las Vegas? Or Laughlin, where I live, about 90 miles SE of Las Vegas.

GREAT IDEAS RE : FAN CONVENTIONS .... Did anyone here as part of Newville Fans Group attend the 3 day convention in July 1999 ....Richard was invited ...but the early response was he was too busy in the studio and rarely accepted convention invitations ..... Suddenly ....believe on day 2 ....Richard plus wife Mary appeared ....a tremendous shock for the attendees ....but a delight ....he answered tons of questions , willingly signed hundreds of Carpenters albums , items and photos ....great success Of course this did take place in Downey ....where Richard & family were still living ....whereas Thousand Oaks is much more secluded and difficult to reach .... Would be fab to arrange fan convention with fans attending from all over the world ....one possible venue ....Carpenters Center .....and invite Richard plus family as special guests ...... Peter

I had always planned on making it to California one more time to see all this. I would probably take two weeks and drive there but either way it's a big adventure to plan as I live way up North here.
It certainly would be nice to make the trip though.

Thousand Oaks is not THAT far away from Los Angeles. Unless I'm wrong it's just due west of Malibu. Besides, Richard would come to see us because we ARE the best, most loving fans an artist ever had!!!

Yes!, but only who regulary wrote in this forum, for a cuestion of personal security for Richard and his family (maybe he goes with them to the Carpenters Online meeting). Oh God, my thirty years dream was meet the Carpenters!

How long of a drive is it from Laughlin or Las Vegas to Ventura County? I know it's at least five hours from here to Orange County, four hours from here to Palm Springs where my family lives. I know it's a day trip and maybe I'll be there.

Well I fairly certain that Richard, despite his enormous wealth and our having contributed to his five children's college fund (LOL), is not going to pay for us to come out to California or Las Vegas to meet him. I'd say, we'd be extremely lucky if he showed up to one evening of greet and meet with all of us sweet, adoring fans!
