Today, I attended Unity Church here in Bullhead City, AZ, which basically an atheist-friendly church that doesn't force you to believe in the G word. I needed some hope and divinity in my otherwise dark world. Also, I had a heart-to-heart talk with the director of security investigations at the casino I work at (in Laughlin, NV). He has been a friend of my father's since 1988. He met me when I was 13 and still a boy. He saw me about two years ago as Mariah. He did my background check and he learned everything about me. He still respects my dad, yet my father doesn't like the idea of his friends finding out or knowing. Too late, already two of his fellow police officer friends know. So yes, I'm aware of my own problems and am doing what I can to iron them out.

Well Dave, I'm part Native American myself. Now my mom's brother is very much into it and he is so politically involved with Native American thinking. (I do not say the word Indian.) Don't get him started on Columbus Day. Most of my family are against it being called that and go with the flow that want to call it "Native American Day". That's also another reason why I resented Christianity as well, us Native Americans were abused by that faith, robbed of our land, forced and raped out of our natural religion, our cultures were destroyed. It's only now since my fellow Natives have grown stronger and found the new buffalo. (as described by a tribal member who lobbied to keep Casino gaming amongst tribes legal in California) But Jesus himself I have nothing against. Jesus was a wonderful teacher. He did NOT create the Christian church. It wasn't established until several long years after his passing. Would he even have approved of it?
Now back to a Carpenters topic. I often wonder if Richard and Karen had Native American blood in them. You know how tall Richard is and how a lot of Natives were. And in Karen's face I see a bit of it in her too.

Richard gave a short fascinating insight into Carpenters parents & family ..... While Coleman bio and most Carpenters associates state that Agnes had a particular closeness towards Richard -some have claimed this favourtism -caused Karen emotional distress / problems ..... Richard was quite clear ...he takes after his father's personality ...!! Easy going overall , dedicated to family matters and has inheirited his quick temper ....whoops !!...when you meet Richard in person ...certainly some Harold hallmarks are obvious Expect many fans feel Richard takes more after Agnes ....not so ...according to family & friends .... Equally many associates noted Karen was similar to Agnes with some personality traits ....again possibly a surprise ?? Still most children / grand children inherit family personality traits / features ..... Peter

Yeah, but, you still have big Mario Lemieux , great French Canadian hockey player(from Montreal, just like me)...
Mario had(and he's still playing) a superb career with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
These days, he playing for Canada in the World Cup.
As I write this..., USA leads 1-0(2nd period) over Finland in the first semi-final. Canada plays tomorrow agains Slovaquia in the other semi-final.
The final is Tuesday. Go!! CANADA Go!! [glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

It was a small town called Lorraine just East (I believe) of Laval PQ I can name some other towns/townships if you are unfamiliar with that little town. Spent half my life there discovered the Carpenters there among oh so many things. Thanks for the hockey score updates whoohoo go for gold! Us Canadians and our hockey obsession what can I say just like Pittsburg and their Steelers eh Dave It will be all over Tuesday so bear with us and forgive our off topic posts.
Dave I do not know how perfectionist Harold was but I get the impression that Agnes was. She apparently kept a very clean almost sterile house and seemed to be the more dominant parent so would likely influence Richard and Karen most. Also she was there the most as Harald worked several jobs to pay Richard and Karens musical expenses (lessons, instruments etc). Agnes' personality seems to fit the perfectionistic attitudes both Richard and Karen applied to their music and their lives.

"Even though my parents would say that they treated us equally, my sister still believes to this day that I was treated better" Interesting point Dave it has been alleged that Richard was always favored over Karen as a child and some say Karen felt they loved Richard more than her. Now how true that is depends on if you believe the individuals who are saying it. I feel there is some truth to it; it seems universal that brothers and sisters feel that parents favor one over the other and Agnes did seem more supportive of Richard in his musical ambitions at least at first. Again at first they had a hard time (both Agnes and Richard) with Karen overshadowing Richard. In the end though I feel that Agnes and Harald love both thier children very much and even cousin Joanie who lived with them for a period of time.

Yeah enigma...
I live in Montréal-Nord(now, Montreal)...
My two last girlfriends lived near *Lorraine*..., I think..., but, I'm not sure. One lived in *Boisbriand* and the other in *Ste-Thérèse*... So??
By the way..., Canada leads 3-2 in the 3rd period..., of the World Cup's final.
Fingers crossed... [glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

I just watched a show of Karen's life and no she had a very controlling Mother and Brother. A very disfunctional family that didn't approve of anything she did, which is what drove her to anexoria, because it was the one thing she could control. Her mother during Karen's therapy sessions had never even told Karen she loved her. She blew it off in therapy when the therapist asked her mother to tell Karen she loved her, her mother said this is rediculous. She knows we do. Richard was controlling of her every move. SO if they had let Karen run her own life, maybe she would still be alive today. After all, Karen was an adult. You have to let go of your kids and neither mother or brother would let her have her own life. Even meddled in her marriage. I can only imagine how Karen felt. Trapped. always having these 2 telling you what to do, when to do it, putting you down. It was actual footage shown is why I've said all this, long time footage being aired. The emotions on Karen's face when her mother said, it was rediculous to tell her she loved her, it was like Karen was so distraught. So I blame Karen's mother and Richard for her early death.
