Rick - I had to smile when you correctly predicted my last two purchases. I guess you've got me figured out. The way it works is I read here how much people are enjoying certain albums and then I realize that I'm missing out on something. I very much enjoy both MIA and Passage and they have temporarily put Horizon on the back burner. Sounds like "A Kind Of Hush" should most likely be your next purchase. "Boat To Sail", "One More Time", "I Have You" and "You" will absolutely blow your mind. "Goofus" - which many C's fans don't care for is a wonderful musical arrangement. The forcast for Southern Florida 40% chance of costal thunderstorms followed by gradual clearing with highs in the low 90's and a 0% chance of hearing the Carpenters.
I have Emailed and phoned several stations in the Miami, Ft Lauderdale area to ask if they would consider giving the C's a fair shake but they tell me it would entail reprograming the entire nation wide matrix of preslected music for the next 5yrs.
I am always amazed at the reaction from people when they hear the C's in my car or at my house. So I can't understand predelection of any station that avoids playing the best pop music ever recorded! I think its a carry over of that late 70's labeling the Carpenters as elevator music. I am certain that if enough stations played the C's every day there is a chance they could chart again.

Hey Dave, I look forward to seeing how you make out. I live in Upstate New York where it's either farm country or colleges and I hear country music (which I like) or rock, rap, etc. cause of the college kids. However, yesterday, I was shocked when I was riding in my friends car and she had an oldies station on (which I usually listen to) and lo' and behold, "We've Only Just Begun" came on. I looked at her in disbelief because this is the first time in years that I have actually heard them being played on the radio. My friend said she's heard them more quite a bit. Although I usually switch stations back and forth, I think I'll be listening to my 95.3 a little more often. It's wonderful to hear them come on the radio....!!!!!!

Wow Will! You are so lucky to be hearing these albums for the first time! I wish sometimes there was a way to erase my memory and listen for the first time again. One song that is rarely mentioned is Can't Smile Without You. from Hush. It has a lazy laid back feel in contrast to Barry Manillows version which is full tilt modulation city. JIM

Hi Will...
Yes, A Kind Of Hush is a superb album... It's in my Top 5 Carpenters studio albums.
Lots of good songs that are not on most Greatest Hits Carpenters albums. You, Sandy, Goofus, Can't Smile Without You, One More Time, Boat To Sail, I Have You, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do..., plus, two classics..., There's A Kind Of Hush and I Need To Be In Love. ???I have always loved the Kind of Hush album and Horizon...I pretty much like them all..there's such a wide range of kinds of music the Carpenters came out with. I think it'll be Super Fantastic Dave, if your plans work out with the radio station. There are several songs because I don't have all the albums...that would be new to me if I heard them. Rick, I think your list of songs that would fit in well with musical attractions of today...is a very good one. It's interesting to read everyone's thoughts about radio stations where they live who do or don't play the Carps. Overall, sounds like there's a revival of them and I think that's great too.
