;DI know it's really late, but there must be other fans plugging for more of the Carps. songs...the past 2 days ...just as I had just listened to them on my cassette radio...on the oldies station in N. Mexico, which I have listened to for years...and always wanted them to play more of the C's ... well, yest. I heard Close to You and today I heard We've Only Just Begun! Since it's a long distance number from where I am, I usually won't request songs. They may have their web-site completed by now, though so I could communicate that way. Anyway, I'm really really thrilled to hear them once again on the radio...they surely are the best of any of the oldies that I know of. :-/It just really makes me glad! Karen I know you can know and understand now how much you are loved! smoothie on the way to bed with warm thoughts of Karen and Richard going round in my head! ;D

Thats really coooooool, Smoothie2 and a really good idea I know if I go to a store and hear them on the stores speakers I get a real thrill but I have not listened to the radio since I had to leave Glendale, Arizona ( talk about torcher ) and that was about 1 year ago, and not a happy day, anyway I would always, when I had a Dr's appointment, hear the radio station that the Dr's office had on, I think it was Beth & Bill show, and it was an oldies station, or like a mix of oldies and soft rock, but I can't remember sometime I would hear The Carpenters on the speakers, which would relax me alittle, because I hate going to the Dr's but that is a good idea thanx Smoothie2

They often play the Carpenters on my local radio station and yes it is always great to see the Carpenters still played and somewhat promoted. Like alot of you keeping the legacy of Karen and Richard alive is important to me LONG LIVE THE CARPENTERS 4 EVER !!!! ;D

Out where I live, there are not too many good stations coming out of Mohave County, AZ. So I pretty much never hear the Carpenters on any of them. I'm stuck listening to KADD 93.5, which is an 80's, 90's and 21st Century station out of Lake Havasu City, AZ. But I do hear the Carpenters music from Cable Radio, when I walk into Walgreens or a market. Oh wait, also the cable radio at the AVI Casino here in town plays a few Carp songs.
I really do think that the Carpenters deserve a spot in the RnR Hall Of Fame. Have they been nominated yet?

I live in New Jersey. Unfortunately the choices of radio stations on the radio is quite limited. They seem to play the same songs over and over. I only hear the Carpenters played at Christmas time. When I lived in Tampa, FL however, there is a radio station, WDUV that plays alot of older great songs. They ALWAYS play the Carpenters (every day)! My friend Nancy listens to the station and every time they play "I Wouldnt Last A Day Without You" she cries because it is our song. I really miss that station. If you're ever in Tampa check it out. You wouldn't be sorry.

We have a station here that often plays the Carpenters' standards.
However, a couple of days ago I was running across the radio stations when I ran into Don't Cry For Me, Argentina! Maybe there's hope to hear a wider range of Carpenters songs on the radio.

Would writing to your radio stations' general managers help?
That also reminds me of a commercial for an L.A. Radio station 10 years ago called KBIG 104 (which is a modern rock station), which was comparing itself to its rival station, KOST 103.5, which said something like "KOST plays the Carpenters, we (KBIG) have a bigger variety". I thought that commercial was really, really nasty. HOW DARE THEY SAY THAT ____!!!

Like I was saying, it was wrong for KBIG to do an anti-Carpenters commercial. I think Richard was p____ed after seeing it, knowing that he lives out in So.Cal. I live out near Las Vegas, and I think there's a station there that plays our beloved sibling band frequently.

Mariah, I remember that commercial for KBIG, they didn't run it very long at all. I have a feeling news got back to Richard and I'm certain Richard's lawyers must have had something to do with the commercial being pulled. I also thought the same thing as you when I heard it. I felt it was very wrong of them to say something like that.

As for rivals, I believe KOST, which continued to play the Carpenters maintained it's lead in the arbitron ratings.

Hi Dave, that's great. I wish you the best in this. Another Karen solo song to introduce the world to is "Making Love In The Afternoon", this is such a powerful song and it still sounds very relevant to today's music scene.

If I get the chance, I'll play as many "non-standards" as I can. I'll see if I can get Caleb to add the songs to the station's hard drive. It should be easy, then the randomizer that plays them will have a lot to choose from. Is this station available via the web? I'd listen. You might try 'B'wana She No Home.' I don't really know what it's about lyrically, but that voice, great beat, and instrumentation! It's a toe tapper for me. (Want You) Back in my Life Again is another song that has a strong start and is a toe tapper. And if they want some 50s-like sound don't hesitate to put Beechwood up. Finish up with 'I Can Dream Can't I'. Now, can you imagine these four back to back on the radio to demonstrate just some of the amazing range of music this duo created and performed?

Will Don't forget your country flavored songs like Two Sides, Reason To Believe or even Those good Old Dreams if you want to stay with the MIA album.
Rick I love the idea of promoting Making Love In The Afternoon it took me two listens to totally get into this song; it was the first one off her solo record that got me listening to it so I'm sure it can do the same for others and yes it is still relevant in todays pop music scene.
You go Dave! Get those people to see what we already know the Carpenters are timeless, great to listen to, and hip to listen to (hope I'm not dating myself here).

There are several songs I feel would be relevant on today's music market. That still sound fresh today. They are: Desperado Making Love In The Afternoon I Just Fall In Love Again oops just noticed the time, I gotta run - will continue this list...

They are: Desperado Making Love In The Afternoon I Just Fall In Love Again oops just noticed the time, I gotta run - will continue this list... Maybe I'm a bit off-topic here. Maybe I'm not. I've come up with a list of Carpenters songs that were not released as a single, that I feel have that potential to be popular radio favorites on today's market. I've chosen these songs not on what I personally like best, but what seems to fit in to today's music scene. What I think would appeal to the general radio listening public. Desperado (Horizon) Goodbye And I Love You (Horizon)- this would also do good on country music radio Making Love In The Afternoon (Karen solo) If I Had You (Karen solo) I Just Fall In Love Again (Passage) Two Sides (Passage) Don't Cry For Me Argentina (Passage) A Song for You (A Song For You) Road Ode (A Song For You) Let Me Be The One (Carpenters) Maybe It's You (Close To You) Leave Yesterday Behind (As Time Goes By) Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again (Interpretations) Ordinary Fool (Voice Of The Heart)

Hi Will, looking at the list of songs here, I can tell you've purchased even more Carpenters discs lately. Looks like maybe "Passage" and "Made In America" are your most recent purchases. I remember when "MIA" was released I played it constantly, and "Passage" was my favorite Carpenters album for quite a long time. "Horizon" though for the last ten years has been my favorite C's album.

The way it works is I read here how much people are enjoying certain albums and then I realize that I'm missing out on something. I very much enjoy both MIA and Passage and they have temporarily put Horizon on the back burner.
