Hi guys, This is a funny story but also a bit embarrasing. I was living in Swift Current, Saskatchewan which is a town of about 17, 000 people...mostly farmers and their families...anyways I was walking home from downtown and I was by the 7-11 store and this tour bus was there. And I was daydreaming and thinking, wouldn't it be funny if this was the Carpenters tour bus. Then I saw the words at the top of the bus at the front...CARPENTER!! I was shocked and shaking. I thought, oh my goodness, Richard is touring across the country probably with his family. Since I only lived about 2 minutes away I was going to run home and get some of my memorabelia and get a camera and take pics and see if I could get him to autograph some of my stuff. I just hoped the bus wouldn't leave while I was gone. I thought I would take a closer look at the bus, and to my horror...it didn't say CARPENTER but CARPENTIER...My heart just sank and I walked home all sad. I was 17.(1990) about having an imagination and getting worked up.
My thoughts, Cameron PS. This really IS true.

well that was a bummer...! I'd come close to fainting I think if I really met up w/ Richard. It's just like yes, I know he's really just a talented guy...so it 's probably silly to be all ga-ga- , but he's Richard...the Richard who grew up and was a brother to the greatest singer ever! wow...indeed

Yeah really what a bummer. I like the way you relay the story Cam, it's somewhat humorous.

That is a let down Cam who knows someday you may get your encounter with Richard.
For me I would not be any more nervous meeting Richard than any other stranger I would likely treat him as a regular person. I know he is an extrodinary and talented man and I know him through his beautiful compositions but I do not have the emotional attachment to Richard that I do with Karen. I am not sure what I would say to him outside the subject of Karen. Now seeing/meeting Karen would be a whole different story and that was covered in another post.
