Hi all! Geez, I haven't been on here in sooooo long! I'm off school for the summer now, so I plan on visiting here more often! I could sure use a bit of advice. I've been trying to fine-tune my Carpenters CD collection and I'm missing "Old Fashioned Christmas." I know that you can get the "Christmas Collection" album which is a combo of "Christmas Portrait" and "Old Fashioned Christmas," but I'm really JUST looking for the "Old Fashioned Christmas" album. I haven't had much luck. I've tried Amazon.com, Ebay, Hastings, Barnes & Noble; nobody seems to have it. Do any of you know where I could possibly get the "Old Fashioned Christmas" CD? Any help would be greatly appreciated and it would sure make my Carpenters collection more complete. Thanks a lot for your time, and long live The Carpenters!!

:(Hi Superstargal, it's wonderful to see you back again. "An Old Fashioned Christmas" was never released on CD. The only way to get it is in the double disc "Christmas Collection.

AN OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS is a GREAT album to have. I remember first listening to mine, Christmas 1988...a fantastic gift from my Mom to me. I love the selection of songs. Too bad it isn't on CD. Probably only on the CARPENTERS box set, which has every album of theirs and tiny album covers.
My thoughts, Cam

Thank you Rick and Cam for your information! That really helps me out a lot. I had no idea that "Old Fashioned Christmas" was never released on CD. That explains the struggles I've had. Yes, I should get the "Christmas Collection" album so I can have the album that way. And maybe I can get "Old Fashioned Christmas" on cassette or LP. I've got a wonderful record player and cassette player to go with my CD boom box. Anyway, thank you both again! I really appreciate it. I'll be coming back here more now that I'm on summer break, so I'll be looking forward to posting more and hearing what everyone has to say! Long live The Carpenters!!!

The revised edition of "Christmas Portrait" came out on CD that included a lot of "An Old Fashioned Christmas," along with "Christmas Portrait." Like stated above, it never came out on CD on its own.
I remember watching Entertainment Tonight one night, and not knowing "Old Fashioned Christmas" was being released, and it was mentioned that the new Carpenters' Christmas album was in stores now. Needless to say, I was at the record store in 30 minutes!

I believe An Old Fashioned Christmas was released on cd in a few countries, although not in the US or UK. There is a catalogue no. for it, belive I saw it on "http://www.onamrecords.com"
I think I saw an Australian copy of it not long ago so it should pop up every now and then on ebay and similar sites.

Hi Christian! Thanks for your help. I'll go check out that site that you listed. Yeah, I think I remember seeing an online music store that is based in the UK and Europe. I know sometimes if you want a certain rare CD, you have to look to another country for it. Yes, and I'll keep checking Ebay too because they have rare stuff on there all the time. But until I get a CD of "Old Fashioned Christmas" I'll have to settle for a cassette or LP. But that's okay. Take care and thanks again!

I heard about that album too; "Christmas Collection." Yes, it's supposed to basically be a two CD-set of "Christmas Portrait" and "Old Fashioned Christmas" together. I think that's kind of neat, although I'd like to have the seperate CD of "Old Fashioned Christmas." I have been contemplating either getting the "Christmas Collection" CD or a cassette or LP of "Old Fashioned Christmas." I'm sure I'll be able to get it some way! Thanks again for your help Peteruk!

Just did some research on this subject and the album was released both in Japan and Australia. It doesnT say when it was released but Australia is listed first. It has the cat.no: 395 172 .
So it is certainly out there somewhere. Good luck with the hunt!
