Hi Everybody Just wanted share a story with the site members. My mom and I traveled to see my grandma in Iowa and on the way we were reminising about the time we attended a Carpenters concert in 1973 and how much we both still loved there music. So at the next stop along the way I purchased The Essentials Collection and we sang away the miles.LOL I had not planned to buy this set because I already bought From The Top but it was the only Carpenters music that the store had, so I shelled out 50$. Mom had forgotten so many of the songs, so it was money well spent!!!! Also my dad surprised me with Remembering The Carpenters on DVD, that he ordered when he saw Richard on the PBS fundraiser that I keep missing. Wow, what a differece from my VHS copy! I really love it. JIM(JGH) forgot my password

:(hi Jim...what a fun time you all had! You are truly blessed to have seen the Carps. in concert, and also to have parents who really enjoyed them also. I didn't see them in concert, but surely grew up with the music. My folks were of the older generation and though they couldn't help being part of all the "hip" scene through the yrs., and music...they liked the Carps. just not quite as much as maybe Sinatra or Como...etc. I am glad they were open minded and did enjoy different kinds of music and us kids as a result grew up with a wide tastes in music. hope to hear more of your thoughts.. smoothie

Hi Smoothie!!! Thanks for your interest in our adventure. I wish I could obtain the video from this concert, I was 10 in 1973 and my memories of the event are vague. We saw this concert at West Virginia University, where I years later I became a student. I was in the marching band and my band director, Don Wilcox, was a personal freind of the Carpenters!!!! My dad says he did some band directing in CA. and met them as students but I will have to call him and get my facts straight so I can post an official update on this information. Jim

I never saw the Carpenters but came close to it in 1977 I think, but all concerts were canselled and I can't remember if it was because Richard fainted on stage or Karen did I can't remember but Passage came out the following year. when ever I traveled they were always playing, can't travel anymore so I listen to them while I'm on the computer. cooooooool they always brighten my day thanks for sharing your story Jim.
