Hmmm. Where do we go from here?(no pun intended...okay just a little pun intended)...
The Oct PEOPLE mag cover on the Karen Carpenter Story(Richard, I realize I am sick) also features an indepth article on Louise Fletcher who would go on to appear as Agnes Carpenter in THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY movie, airing January 1, 1989.
Cynthia Gibb, who played Karen Carpenter, went on to star as GYPSY ROSE LEE, in the movie GYPSY also starring BETTE MIDLER, who used to make fun of Karen during the 1970's.
Cherry Boone O'Neill, Pat Boone's daughter, suffered from anorexia, and during 1974, the Boone family recorded Please Mr Postman, of course the Carpenters had the bigger hit. Cherry went on to help Karen get treatment for her anorexia. Cherry went on to write several books on anorexia and bulimia, and mentionned Karen in several.
Anyone else have some 6 degrees of seperation on Karen or the Carpenters?
My thoughts, Cameron

The Carpenters charted with a Beatles cover tune (Ticket To Ride 1970) as did Anne Murray (You Won't See Me 1973) and Anne Murray ( who many people often said she sounds similar to Karen ) had a 1979 hit with "I Just Fall In Love Again" which the Carpenters first recorded in 1977.

Karen dated Mike Curb, who founded Curb records, who signed Debby Boone in 1977 to record "You Light Up My Life." Debby Boone's sister is Cherry, who tried to help with Karen's Anorexia.

Hall Blaine played drums on several Carpenters albums, he also played drums for John Denver. John Denver was a guest star on the Carpenters Very First Special.

Anne Murray also did a cover of "Let Me Be the One" that got some radio airplay. The Carpenters' version is, of course, much better, and should have been released as a single back in 1971.

Here's a kind of crazy six degrees of seperation, but it works:
Karen dated Terry Ellis in 1974. Terry's promotion company promoted concert tours for the 70's and 80's modern rock group Roxy Music. Brian Eno (who produced several albums for U-2) was a member of Roxy Music. Brian Eno produced and recorded with David Bowie. Tina Turner sang backup on David Bowie's 1984 hit "Tonight". Tina Turner in turn recorded "It's Only Love" in 1985 with Bryan Adams. Bryan Adams recorded for A&M records which is the Carpenters' record company.

Karen was friends with Phoebe Snow. Tony Levin is a musician who played on some of Phoebe's albums. Tony Levin has also played on albums by Adrian Belew (Belew is in the group King Crimson and has produced Jars Of Clay). Adrian Belew performed on Paul Simon's album "Graceland". Paul Simon was part of the group Simon & Garfunkel. Karen recorded a track with Art Garfunkel of Simon & Garfunkel in 1980 (which is still to this date unreleased).

As you can tell this is one of my favorite topics having posted three in a row here.
The New Christy Minstrels is a folk group founded and led by Randy Sparks. Randy Sparks wrote the song "(A Place To) Hideaway". In 1966 Kenny Rogers was a member of The New Christy Minstrels. In late 1968 Kenny Rogers auditioned Karen Carpenter for his group The First Edition.
