The Carpenters recorded this song in 1976 for the "A Kind of Hush" album. Does anyone know why? Was it to make peace with Neil Sekada?
This song was recorded after their falling out on the "Horizon" tour and it isn't very good. I don't care for the fast version of the song, Neil's or the Carpenters. Neil did a slower/jazzy ballad version of the song and had another hit with it. It would have been a better version for the Carpenters to remake. Also, I heard that Richard arranged the jazz version for Sedaka. Is this true?
Your thoughts...

On Sedaka's 1975 album "The Hungry Years" it lists Richard Carpenter as doing the Strings Arrangement for "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do".
I also think the slower version of "Breaking Up..." would have been better for the C's to record. Some people speculate that they did record a slower version.

Would also love to hear Karen’s voice on an arrangement like on Sedaka’s album. It’s a great song, but not a fan of Neil Sedaka’s voice at all! Agree ... wasn't thrilled about K&R's fast version either.

I like the Carpenters upbeat version of Breaking Up..., it has a fun feel to it.
