Hello all ;D What do you think is the most underrated song by the Carpenters? Please forgive me if this topic has come up already. Just curious. Here are a few of my picks: "Now" "You're The One" "I Won't Last A Day Without You" "Let Me Be The One" "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft" I don't know if "A Song For You" is underrated, but it's one of my very favorites! Take care all

I think "B'wana She No Home" is highly underrated. The musicianship on it is spectacular. The lyrics are interesting and Karen's voice on this one is cool.
I also think " Desperado" is underrated. This one should be regarded as classic Carpenters and not just an album cut from "Horizon".

Take care all I won't even try to name as there are just sooo many. So many truly strong album cuts, many of which had potential for single release. WON'T LAST A DAY was a pretty good hit, though. I like it too. LET ME BE THE ONE is going a ways back! Not sure if this was a B side. But when CARPENTERS was flying high on the album charts, this particular cut got considerable air play on the closest pop station to my hometown. This station was extremely Top 40, so the fact that they played any cuts at all was a pretty big deal as I think back. Really don't remember that being done other than with the C's. I guess they were getting lots of calls. The Bacharach medley also got considerable play.

:)Good line of thoughts..."You're the One" is a very good one and one similar is "You" I think featured on the Kind of Hush album. The song "Sometimes", though not written by the Carps..is great too. The song"You're the One" always gives me that "lump" in my throat of emotion because it's such a classic love song among all love songs and touches anyone who has ever had such a close and loving relationship. I'll be thinking more on these things.....hummmm..
Hey Rick...I'm a "diamond girl" now because I've posted so much..right? ..myohmy..."Diamond Girl"..who sang that song..I forgot someone Seals...?

I think "B'wana She No Home" is highly underrated.quote] I remember hearing this first thing after returning home from purchasing PASSAGE and turning on the stereo. Thought what an exciting new sound for Karen! Very innovative for the Cs, I think. After all these years I had forgotton TWO SIDES until recently becoming reacquainted, though I really liked it. I never did forget B'WANA, though probably liked it less all in all than TWO SIDES. Time plays its tricks!

..."Diamond Girl"..who sang that song..I forgot someone Seals...? Loved Seals and Crofts, another wonderful duo of that era. Think I remember their mega hit GET CLOSER was big during the summer of the KIND OF HUSH album. GET CLOSER and SUMMER BREEZE are a couple of classic oldies.

:)Thanks So Much Rick...and everyone who'se added their posts so religiously..I love recalling those days..even though ..it really was a very long time ago...and thanks Alan..Seals and Crofts.. great harmonys or harmonies (?)... I still have Donny Osmond's very first solo album and Marie's also...what HIGH Voices!... Yes, the 8 tracks were really super when they came out because I think you could push a button and it would keep playing the same songs or skip one... I haven't heard the Passage album, nor B'Wana or Two Sides..they can't be too shabby considering the great folks singing them. that Mr. Guder..that is also such a great and fun song...

As far as singles that were released, I would say that "All you get from love is a love song" and "(Want you) Back in my life again" were under rated and didn't perform as well as they should. As for album cuts, I think "Strength of a Woman" and "You" were both over looked and are missing from the compilation releases.

:-[Thank you all for your input! Great choices!
Smoothie2: I get that emotion caught in my throat when listening to "You're The One" as well! I know exactly what you mean! And yes, "Diamond Girl" is awesome! It is my favorite from Seals and Crofts.
Take care all, and thanks again!

I must have overlooked this topic. Thanks to Superstargal for raising it to the top for me to discover.
I guess I'll suggest 'I Can Dream Can't I' if only because it's great and I'd never heard of it before until recently when Rick suggested I get the Horizon album.
Thanks, once again, Rick!

a few more I feel are underrated (not by fans, but just in general) are " Desperado" and "Two Sides". Both songs are really top of the line, the best of the best and more people should know these songs.
