Is it anyone's guess to when or if Richard will release any of their songs that can be released...and are there a lot that were never released? just wondering..

I don't know, but I certainly hope so.
As I've said before, I'd be willing to buy recording studio floor scraps if he'd just put them on a CD.
I get the feeling that certain artists become well known for just a few works and then spend the rest of their careers trying to move past those original hits.
I believe Richard can do both.

Recently Richard said there just isn't anything else to release. But I personally don't believe that. I can think of two songs off the top of my head both recorded in 1978, one is the studio recording of "Thank You For The Music", the other is the full length recording of " Dancing In The Street" and I know there must be others. My guestimate is that there is probably another 15 - 20 songs that could actually be released.

I don’t believe Richard either. Then, maybe there’s not enough material to release a complete album. I was thoroughly disgusted with the whole deal about Karen’s solo album release. How many years went by that we all knew she had an album in the can before its release? From printed accounts, it was solely Richard’s decision. Supposedly, it wasn’t of the quality to release! It’s bound to have been his decision alone. I doubt if A&M would deny any effort that could even remotely make the company an additional penny! While Karen was alive, fans like us who bought the records (and still do) and attended the concerts are the ones who should be taken into account. Not some vision of grandeur that Richard may have that withholding previously unreleased recordings could have an impact on their/her future image! My lord, it can’t get any lower than it got during his reign!!! Did/does he actually think anything held from the market was going to be some huge negative for them? Like Willbarns said, we would appreciate scraps off the floor as far as anything yet to be released goes. Richard was in control from the start of their career, and I think this is where he intends to remain!
Sorry, I’m venting!

I would love any new music from Karen and Richard, but Richard may think that the remaining music is not up to their standards. I don't think anything he would release could ever damage the Carpenter name in any way. Their legacy of great music is secure. He may want to leave it that way.
On the other hand, I would love anything he decides to release. I mentioned in another thread that a "live" release of various songs from various concerts would be an ideal project. From the Coleman biography, it mentioned that Richard recorded most of their concerts for his own personal collection.
I would take anything Richard would want to release and enjoy the material he has, so far.
my 2 cents...

:)and so it goes...maybe Richard will come through somehow..since it does sound like he's been holding back on a few unreleased. If I can eventually buy more of their taped shows, that'll be ok by me.
