Hey Carlo - How can you go wrong with Karen singing a Paul Williams song?! This isn't my fav, but I always enjoy hearing it. I liked the remix for the single much better than the original version that was on "A Song for You." They added some guitar riffs by Tony in the vein of “Yesterday Once More.” Not sure, but that remixed version is probably the only one printed today. The additions added some interest to the tune.
Something interesting about this song is another very long time ago memory. I'm remembering something I read in Billboard magazine when the single was released. As I said, and you probably know, this was originally on "Song for You," but wasn't released as a single until even after the next album, “Now and Then”, was released. The article said they released that just to satisfy demand as they weren't yet ready to release their next album, which would be “Horizon.” Obviously, Please Mr. P wasn't ready either! Previously they had released an album per year, but there was basically a two-year lag between “Now and Then” and “Horizon.” So, apparently they needed some hit filler! I remember being pleased to hear it on the radio and thought it would’ve been released earlier. Thought it had good hit potential from listening to it on “A Song for You.”

Hey All, I think I WON'T LAST A DAY WITHOUT YOU is a beautiful song! I was listening to it on my cd walkman, while laying in bed, and just really enjoying this song. Actually, I was listening to A SONG FOR YOU album from start to end(one of my least fave C's albums...contrary to other C's fans...my faves are A Kind of Hush and Close To You albums)...anyhow, I really enjoyed listening to the selection of songs, and it sounds so adult, so sophisticated. Her voice...man! I could go on as to how she could make me feel!! But a wonderful selection of songs...
My thoughts, Cameron

hi Carlo..and everybody..I agree I Won't Last a Day without you is surely one of my favorites also. Karen just never skips a beat..it seems that just singing for her was like drinking water...seemingly effortless..though I'm sure I know she worked hard in all she did..but I especially like the end of that Won't last a day..after she sings the chorus for the last time...she pauses or holds that note for just a few seconds and then "without you"..and then the background blends in so well..going from lower notes to higher...and then even ing it out. And I know she must have been in love at least with the guy she married, but every song..is like she is truly singing to someone special in her mind.

Rick - As you know ... as with "No Getting Over," "Yesterday Once Moore" and "Top of the World" were also remixed for the single release. "Top" for "The Singles" album and the single, that is. How confusing! Anyway, my CD's of "N & T" and "A Song" have the remixed versions. Now I assume unless you have a very old copy of the original recordings on whatever medium, only the remixed versions are now printed on everything. You mentioned the compilations, but here I speak of the album itself if I wasn't clear. Is that right? Does that make sense? Just interested for trivia's sake. I really prefer all the remixed versions anyway. At the same time, I'd give anything to still have my original records with the original versions. Thanks much.
