Bossnass asked in another thread if Karen sang a full version of "Magic Moments", this made me think of other songs from the many medleys The Carpenters have done. Here's a listing of the ones I can think of off the top of my head: Oldies Medley (Now & Then) Oldies Medley (Live In Japan) Bacharach / David Medley (Carpenters) Ella / Karen Medley (As Time Goes By) Perry Como / Carpenters Medley (As Time Goes By)
One of my favorite medley songs is "Our Day Will Come" from the "Now & Then" oldies medley, I also really like "Leader Of The Pack" from "LIve In Japan".
As for "Magic Moments" I don't think Carps ever did a full version.

Hey Rick and all, There is also the MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC medley with WISHIN AND HOPIN/HOUSE IS NOT A HOME etc. I really like this medley a lot. This is from their 1971 tv summer replacement series on NBC.

And what about the Bacharach-David medley(with the longer version of Make It Easy On Yourself) released on the "From The Top" boxed set and taken from the tv special "Music,Music,Music"? And you forgot the hits medley from the "Live At The Palladium" album. There's a live Bacharach-David medley that includes two extra songs : "Any Day Now" and "Baby, It's You" from the japanese "Anthology" boxed set.

The "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" medley is one of my favorites. I really like their version of the Beatles' "Good Day sunshine" - a full version would have been great.

hi everybody..I didn't know that there were so many medleys done by Karen and Richard. I love all of them that I have heard especially the oldies. From the "Now and Then" album, of course, End of the World is so great, and The Night Has a Thousand Eyes. The Live in Japan cd and video of Leader of the Pack is really fun. Where the guys ask at the start of that song.."Is that Johnny's ring you're wearing?"....Karen puts in some humor with .."uh huh"..then "Is he picking you up after school today?"..she answers.."uh uh.."...that's funny ... I would surely like to hear those unreleased songs or those done in those early shows. smoothie

I love the medley on "From the Top." I wish Karen had re-recorded the full version of "Someday." I also love "Make it easy on yourself." These songs are great as a medley and would also kill for full length versions.

One of my other favorites is the instrumental medley "Strike Up The Band", etc from Live At The Palladium, which is a medley to showcase Karen's drum work. I find this thrilling to listen to.

Hi Rick glad to see you posting hope you did what you needed to do on your time away (attend to other things and hopefully rest) As for the topic at hand I like the way the Carpenters did Any Day Now from their concert Medley the one I specifically saw was off the live in Australia video and Karen did such a great job on the little bit she sang that I would love to see how a full version would sound. From the little I heard I think a full version would be awsome. Be back with some more later.

I am with you on this one, Rick. One of my very favorite medleys that Carpenters did was this one, showcasing the fabulous Karen Carpenter, the drummer. I absolutely adore the way she looks so natural and so at ease and it's just so obvious that she is having an absolute ball playing this medley. I love it. I enjoy listening to it, but especially watching it, and I have, repeatedly, since I got it on video. Any Day Now would be a nice one to have a full-length version of. And, so would Make it easy on Yourself. I liked the slower version of it a great deal. Wish it had been an entire tune in and of itself. Nice topic. Thanks for finding this one. Tim

I would have loved to hear a full length studio recording of "Make It Easy On Yourself". Carpenters did an outstanding rendition of this song on their extended Bacharach/David medley which they used to sing in concert. They also included the song in a medley they performed in their 1980 TV Special "Music, Music, Music". This was one of Karen's finest vocal performances.
Another song from a medley is "My Funny Valentine" from the Karen/Ella Medley (also from the 1980 special "Music, Music, Music"). From the very short snippet of the song in the medley I can tell this song was perfect for Karen's voice.
And as I mentioned earlier I would have really loved to hear a full length recording of the Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine" which is a song which Karen and Richard sang in their "Make your Own Kind Of Music" medley. Carpenters were especially good with sunny type songs like this.

Several of my favorites have already been mentioned : Make It Easy On Yourself, Any Day Now, Funny Valentine, the Make Your Own Kind Of Music medley ... all of those songs, etc.
I would like full versions of some of the songs from the Carpenters/Como medley. Especially, It's Impossible, And I Love You So, and Magic Moments.
There is also the KC/John Denver medley of Good Vibrations and Comin' Through the Rye.

My, my WJ7 again you've hit on a few great ones.
A full recording of "It's Impossible" would have been fantastic - this is a perfect vehicle of Karen's voice - and in my mind would have ended up being the definitive recording.
And "Good Vibrations"... can you just imagine the multi-tracked vocals on this one? This would have been a beaut...
