Someone on this forum had asked about who designed the famous Carpenters logo. In doing research yesterday for updating the HOME page for the website I ran across the answer. It was designed by the A&M Art Department. Whether it was an individual or a team effort it didn't say.

I wasn't the one who asked, but that is interesting and thanks for doing the research. Somewhere way back when Carps were in their hey dey or right beforehand, I think Richard C. or someone said they only wanted to be known as Carpenters and not The Carpenters..don't know why or what..seems to me in order to make sense, they would naturally be the Carps. Maybe, he was talking about just the logo.

I think it had to do with the fact that back in the 1960's to be credible in the rock music world...your name meant everything...so they went as...CARPENTERS...it sounded cooler...(like the group Fleetwood Mac...or Supertramp...if you put THE in front of them looks kind of silly)...but then later on, became known as THE Carpenters....I think people were more confused...
