I'm sure that this question has come up before and I know I have read it somewhere, but just out of wanting to know..the song Superstar that was from the musical play Jesus Christ Superstar or what?

"Superstar" by the Carpenters was written by Leon Russell and Bonnie Bramlett. "Superstar" from the movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" was written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

yes, I know the songs are different but I was thinking the Carps. Superstar was from some other play. Maybe I'm just thinking that because I think it was originally recorded by some other female artist maybe Carole King. oh well..

I misunderstood what you were saying. Golly gee! Rita Coolidge first recorded "Superstar" for Joe Cocker's album "Mad Dogs And Englishmen".

hey..no sweat..! somebody gotta keep you on your toes! Anyway, hi ThomB ....the way I worded the question was out of whack..and you both answered accordingly..Anyways...thanks...I wonder if R. and K. even guessed what a hit Superstar would be for them....they were getting more and more successful when it came out I think though, so..it's one of their most well known hits. Their vocals again signature the song. Starting out kind of slow and then the chorus is more upbeat and then that slight pause after the "baby oh baby.........i love you.....i really do" quite a catch. It makes me think of my first big crush (about the time puberty hit..yikes) and I kept hearing Superstar and Close to you and other songs that seem to fit in with just what I was feeling about a guy who was tall blonde and 5 yrs. older than me..but he liked to hang around with all the church kids even younger crowd and was genuinely nice ...but he laughed when I told him I loved him....! I now believe his tastes actually were toward his own gender. In any case, I continued to like him and soon was in love with 3 or 4 other guys who hardly knew I was around...ha... and so it goes
