I was browsing your site and saw this thread. Sorry, I don't like to be a butinsky, but have you ever heard Clay Aiken sing?!?!?!? OMG, he can really do a great job with Solitaire, or anything else for that matter!! What I would REALLY love to see (or hear) is a duet with Karen and Clay (ahh, the wonders of technology!) That would bring Karen back into the limelight and their voices are both marvelous!! Have you seen the Clay Aiken-Bing Crosby duet??? I don't care what anyone says about Clay Aiken, the guy has one fantastic voice. He could be the male version of Karen. Some of the choices selected on this thread are great (B.J. Thomas!! yes!), but I feel some newer artists would be better in the long run. Clay is very new and really starting to go places.

Hi Eliza, welcome to the forum. Clay does have a fine voice. He's really caught on like wild fire. You see his name everywhere.
I also think that with modern day technology Karen should be teamed up with one of the younger newer singers. remember Nat King cole and natalie Cole that came off without a hitch and was very successful. I'd like to hear Karen with Norah Jones - Norah also has quite a lovely voice - although she is nowhere close to Karen. Karen is technically one of the finest singers in the history of music.

:)Hi Eliza..glad you "clocked in" to this site..and hi everybody..Clay is great and though I haven't heard her much...I have heard that Norah is really good too. Karen does have a very one of a kind voice among voices. It's interesting to imagine how she would sound with newer folks on the music scene.

Great topic-
I would definitely like to see Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Elton John, Sheena Easton, Faith Hill...hmmmm... Let's see...Barry Manilow, Clay Aiken, Wynonna, Sandi Patty, Amy Grant...
Now who sings what song?
Though I don't care for Anne Murray's latest albums of old songs, I do think she really did nice jobs on the remakes on her earlier albums. Daydream believer, I'm happy just to dance with you, Things, Hey! Baby!, Nevertheless (I'm in love with you)...She did a lot of them and did them well. Anne also recorded songs like Stranger at my door (by Juice Newton) and What's forever for (by Michael Martin Murphy) on first and later became hits by others. I'm sure that happens to all of them.

Some of the other soft-rock greats prforming the Carpenters songs would be nice. I'd like to see Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton-John (like Cam had mentioned). Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey could maybe pull off a couple good Carpenters tunes. James Taylor and Air Supply would do great too. There are a lot of them out there!

Manhattan Transfer could do a wonderful recording of a Carpenters or Karen Carpenter song. Also Diana Krall.

Trisha Yearwood and Leann Rimes would be good additions to the tribute album. Both singers have good strong voices and could carry tunes like "Solitaire," "Rainy Days" and "Superstar."
