I had this song stuck (pleasantly) in my head all day long.
I was out bicycling (exercise) much of the afternoon and this delightful song was with me most of the way.
Can anyone tell me how the Carpenters came to perform this one? I know they like to do oldies, but this one if from way back. I like it a lot and wish they had done more from this time period.
Besides the WWII, jazz, and country albums I wish we'd seen, I forgot to mention the 1950's album which would have been a natural (I'm sure there's plenty of material for this.)

This song was originally a #1 hit in 1949 for The Andrews Sisters. Richard felt the song would be perfect for them to record. Billy May, who arranged for Frank Sinatra and Nat "King" Cole, did the fantastic musical arrangement. In 1975, I was only 15 years old, "I Can Dream Can't I" did not make an impact on me. I loved the song, but it wasn't a favorite. I liked the poppy tunes and the dark power ballads better. Though as I've grown and experienced more life and learned more about the music of other eras I've grown to really appreciate and love "I Can Dream...".
