i have an Carpenters experience. I normally listen on the car stereo, well tonight , at home it is very quiet, I played the Gold cd on the good amp and speakers. that song Yesterday Once More, Karen went so deep into her soul, that i thought no way that can not be. But i realised if my mind is in that frame , her voice and her singing can do it.

Definitely, it is always a delight to listen to that one whether it rains or not. I love it I really like listening to Mr. Guder, B'Wana She No Home & Man Smart, Woman Smarter recently. Even the ending part of "Calling Occupants" Dont ask me why? I know those arnt traditional fare. I didnt grow up listening to the Carpenters so I probably dont have the same ideas about what a "proper" Carpenters song is. Im pretty sure that its anything from "Song For You", the Tan Album and "Now & Then" Those are like the Carpenters "holy grail"? I really love the later Carpenters albums too. But they dont seem to be deemed "worthy" by the majority of Carpenters fans. It seems like the pre 75' stuff is sacred & then there is the post 75' stuff. Does anybody share this estimation?

I am like you Gwen. My favorite albums by Carpenters are not the typical ones. As a matter of fact albums such as the Tan Album somewhat bore me - I know fans will have my head for saying that - but that's my own personal taste.
I will say however Horizon does (for the most part) seem to be the favorite album by a good portion of die-hard Carpenters fans. I guess it must be the dark mournful side of the music that attracts the fans.
As for the later album again I have to say that made In America and Voice of the Heart pretty much bore me also. From the first time I heard the album I have always felt made In America was somewhat a let down. I was expecting a knockout from them after being gone for about 3 years - but they came out with Made In America which in my mind was very mediocre. Not one of the songs on the album was on the level of something like Solitaire or This Masquerade.
My favorite albums are Horizon, Passage and Karen's solo. I love the joy in Karen's voice on her solo album.
My song of the day is Guess I Just Lost My Head from Karen's solo album.

I just listened to Yesterday Once More with the headphones and it is really great super, i normally listen with the speakers, but with the headphones a better experience. I am glad i know about Carpenters music and feel very lucky to have found this music, it is like a secret musical therapy. Thank goodness for the skill, talent, hard work of how Carpenters blended all the sounds, music to create a really good song.

I like most Carpenters songs as I absolutely love Karen's voice and simply melt every time I hear her open her mouth and sing. She has the voice of angels. I see and feel her smile when she sang her songs. Shame she was taken way too soon. A beautiful girl with a gorgeous smile, beautiful voice and great drumming skills. I really admired the relationship she had with her brother. It was absolutely beautiful to see the love they had between them. What an absolute waste we lost her so young. What a crime and shame she was taken in the flower of her youth. She is truly sadly missed. Tho I was only just under 3 years of age when she passed away I honestly and sincerely love and appreciate her music and wish she was still alive today entertaining and recording albums. Love You Karen. May You Rest In Peace. Photo Source: www.photofeatures.com/carpenters/images/prevs/carpenters-74-017a.jpg
