We all know that Richard changed a line of Superstar cause it wasn't according with their image(...to sleep with you again.). I wonder if Karen herself selected this song for include it in the Made In America album, because Richard never has written details about how and why this song was selected. Do you remember the details about the songs in Singles 69-73? I find this song more appropiate for the Karen solo album due to the line "...every time that we make love will be the first time we've made love and every act of love will please you..." Did you ever have found another Carpenters song with this kind of explicit lyrics, aside of the solo album?. I don't remember...

:)Hello Federiko..I don't have the answers to your questions, but I was not aware that Richard had changed the words to Superstar when they recorded it. I do agree though with you that since on the solo album of Karen's another song did have explicit lyrics, that it would have been fitting for her to have recorded with the original words. But, by then, Superstar had already been a success for them on other albums, so I guess it had to stay the same.

Hi, Smoothie. Thanks for reply me In the From The Top booklet, not in The Singles 69-73 boolket (the old LP's booklet), Richard says "...I was vacillating between "Superstar" and "Let Me Be The One", being concerned that the lyrics to the former were a little unconventional for a Carpenters's record - even though we'd changed the lyric "sleep" to "be".....

I BELIEVE YOU WAS RECORDED IN 1978 WHEN THE CARPENTERS WERE RECORDING CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT. IT WAS RELEASE AS A SINGLE IN 1978...AND THEN INCLUDED IN THE MADE IN AMERICA ABLUM IN 1981
