Of course, every song touched by Karen has a great deal going for it, but as for this song I voted it's ok.
Not one of my faves. perhaps it's not as well known (at least by me) as the "standards" or classics.s

I love this song, especially done by Karen. I may have only heard it sung one other time but do like Karen's of course.
As Karen's voice is not featured as much on "Old Fashioned Christmas", I guess I am thankful for whatever song she sings. I really love them all. Karen and Richard will be remembered for their Christmas music long after we are all gone.
I just wish they would play more of their music on our radio stations now. I hear 70's music all the time but there is so much more of them that can be heard and if we do, it's Close to You, Superstar or WOJB. There are so many others...
For instance, Melissa Etheridge is an awesome artist too and has so many songs that she has written and performed. Why do I have to only hear "Come to My Window" or "I Want to Come Over". That's all I hear!

I totally love it. There is such a playful tone. The instrumentals and Karen's vocals (of course) are great; somehow the intoning and pronounciation of the word "invitations" stands out to me.

;D ;D Gotta say, "I Love It." One very nicely sung song by Ms. Karen Carpenter - she felt the blues, let me tell you. This one has a lot of Karen's signature "vocal fry" and I enjoy hearing that leading into a phrase. The Peter Knight arrangement is awesome, and Karen sounds like she's so relaxed when singing this. It's quite mellow, and laid back. I have heard numerous people try their hand at this one, and there are very few I really like. I heard a version by Donny Osmond that was very nice, as well - Donny knows how to interpret a good blues number, like Karen. Yet - I've gotta say there's not another for me as good, and as easy to (repeatedly) listen to as this one with Karen on the vocals. What a great rendition of this classic. Rick, I have heard Diana Krall's version, and as much as I fancy Diana's total overall style, I'd much rather listen to KAC on this one. ;D ;D

I didn't say I didn't like Diana's version - in fact, I quite like it. What I said is that I prefer Karen's version over Diana's on this song.

i checked out on youtube..Diana K. and Ella and Margaret Whiting versions.... I really like each one's version of the song, and I like them quite a bit. It's interesting to listen to the different versions. Of course, none are quite like Karen. I enjoy these oldies but goodies and I'm glad the Big band and bluesy styles are still popular. Such classics never really go out of style. I never had checked out M. Whiting, even tho surely have heard of her. Even tho getting a bit off track here, I have always loved the song "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" and Karen would also fit that one perfectly too. : On youtube...I didn't find D. Osmond's N. Yr.'s Eve, and that's ok. I've always enjoyed him and have his very first record album as well as Marie's.
