It's been a while since we've done one of these...
This one is a level FIVE... which means it's pretty tough.
Artist: Delight
Song: Coast
What is the connection to the Carpenters/Karen/Richard?

Still thinking ...
It's hard to break through the Christmas atmosphere I'm surrounded by, though. ;-)

Song: Glissade
These are the previous clues:

Any guesses from anyone?

Ah ... well that DOES make a difference. I was thinking coast as being where the water meets the shore. Now I know differently. I still don't know the answer, but I'm not wading offshore either.

Hi Rick, This puzzle is surely a tough nut to crack — this nutcracker is really stuck! Can you please give us another clue?

Okay you asked for it - you've got it!
Here's a second artist clue:
Artist: BLISS
These are the previous clues:
Artist: Delight
Song: Coast
Second song clue:
Song: Glissade
If more clues are needed the next one's will be more on the type of song or genre of song or artist.

Is the song "Slip Sliding Away"? Does the artist have anything to do with Joy / Happiness / Ecstasy?

Is the song "Slip Sliding Away"? Does the artist have anything to do with Joy / Happiness / Ecstasy? The song is not "Slip Slidin' Away" - although the title of this song does contain a derivitvie of one of the words from the title "Slip Slidin' Away".
Bonus Clue: What makes this particularly hard is that the artist name and song title in this game are each one word - not the same word - but each one word names.
These are the previous clues:
Artist: Delight
Song: Coast
Second set of clues:
Artist: BLISS
Song: Glissade

Your clues are not leading me to the answers as much as from my previous erroneous thoughts.
In other words ... I'm still muddled and befuddled. ;-)

WHO? Shows my age, or my ignorance, but I've never heard of either the song, or the artist, if Dreams has it correct. Tim

Slide fits for the song, but that was done by the Goo Goo Dolls, wasn't it?

Okay all... back again with more clues.
Firstly let me apologize as I said the song title contains a derivitive of one of the words from the title "Slip Slidin' Away". I erred in this as this song title is not a derivitve from a word in "SSA".
The song title is not "Slide" - but you are on the right track - definitely.
Here's another clue:
This song was a top ten R&B hit in 1979.
These are the previous clues:
Artist: Delight
Song: Coast
Second set of clues:
Artist: BLISS
Song: Glissade
Bonus Clue: What makes this particularly hard is that the artist name and song title in this game are each one word - not the same word - but each one word names.
btw Tim... if you've never heard Dido... you've gotta take a listen she is absolutely fantastic.

[yellow]NEXT GUESS—[/yellow] Song: Glide Artist: Pleasure
There isn't much info out there about this 1970's-80s jazz-funk group, so I can't make the connection to the Carpenters.

Very close Mr. Dreams - but the band name you have chosen is incorrect.
Again here are the clues given for the artist name:
Artist: Delight
Artist: BLISS
And here are all the clues given so far:
This song was a top ten R&B hit in 1979.
Artist: Delight
Song: Coast
Second set of clues:
Artist: BLISS
Song: Glissade
Bonus Clue: What makes this particularly hard is that the artist name and song title in this game are each one word - not the same word - but each one word names.

The song title is "Glide" and it was a top ten R&B hit in late 1979.
Here's another clue to the group name: The name is a one word name and is often used in a greeting when you first meet someone.
This group is from Portland, Oregon.
Any guesses?
