Burt Bacharach is my guess for the Carpenters connection since He was married to Carol King and wrote some of the BIG Carpenters Hits! Thanks Good Old Dreams for saying I was correct! I just hope I can get a Rick Henry Twisted Logic right someday! Dr Johnny P LoveTrain

I just hope I can get a Rick Henry Twisted Logic right someday! Dr Johnny P LoveTrain Hi DJLOVETRAIN, Your guess of "Carole King" as the artist and "It's Too Late" as the song are correct, but the connection is not — Burt Bacharach was never married to Carole King. I believe you were thinking of singer/songwriter Carole Bayer Sager who WAS at one time married to Bacharach. Again, what are the connections of Carole King to the Carpenters? There are two relatively easy and direct connections, and two more esoteric ones (possibly with a difficulty level of "5") that I don't expect anyone to know offhand without further coaching and hinting until the first two connections are revealed. WOO WHOO! We are nearly 90% done on the first phase of the journey!

Very good Dreams on this game... you had me completely puzzled.
Carole King not only recorded "It's Going To Take Sometime" - she also co-wrote the song.
Here are a few more less obvious connections:
In the Oldies Medley on "Now And Then" Carpenters recorded "One Fine Day" (written by Carole King).
The song "You've Got A Friend" (written by Carole King) is included on the 1989 album "Scott Grimes" which was produced and arranged by Richard Carpenter and includes several members of the Carpenters band.
If I think a little longer I can get the last connection...
Oh, it just came to me Neil Sedaka wrote and recorded the song "Oh Carol!" which was written for Carole King. Carpenters recorded "Solitaire" and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" - both written by Neil Sedaka. Neil Sedaka also opened for Carpenters in concert during 1975. As a bonus Richard provided the strings arrangement on Sedaka's 1976 ballad recording of "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do".
Anymore connections?

Very good, Rick and DJLOVETRAIN! Yes, something that is "slow" also implies that "It's Going to Take Some Time." Thus, my song clue of "Slow" applies to singer/songwriter Carole King's song of the implied name and her own mega hit "It's Too Late." For the direct connections, as Rick noted, the Carpenters had performed two of Carol King's compositions, "It's Going to Take Some Time" and "One Fine Day" (originally a hit for the Chiffons) in their studio discography. Rick further correctly made the obscure connections with Neil Sedaka as well, a singer/songwriter who was a classmate of Carole King at Queens College and dedicated his big first hit to her, entitled "Oh, Carol." (She wrote a song in answer called "Oh Neil.") The Carpenters had recorded Sedaka's "Solitaire" on the "Horizons" album. Reportedly Sedaka was TOO well-received as an opening act for a Carpenters' concert tour in the mid 1970's, which consequently caused some rivalry, and the Carpenters recorded Sedaka's "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" as a reconciliatory gesture. Rick also found a few more interesting tidbits as well, which make up for more icing on the cake!!! THANKS FOR A GAME WELL-PLAYED!
