Guess the artist
Guess the song
Guess the connection to the Carpenters
In TW12 it should be fairly easy to guess the artist and song - but the connection will be a little harder so I rate this game a difficulty level of 3-Stars.
Here are the clues:
Artist: Go fifty-fifty
Song: fifty-fifty lineage

With the song clue of 50/50 linage I would have picked HALF BREED, but go 50/50 really doesn't say Sonny and Cher to me.

Hi Wisejester you have the song right it is "Half Breed" - but Sonny and Cher never recorded the song.
Think of what 50-50 can mean - it's kind of a play on words and it sounds like the artists name - but is spelled differently.

Artist CHER Half Breed-#1 song for 2 weeks in October 1973 is the connection Bob Mackie(the fashion designer)? Didn't he design Karen's Clothes too? Dr Johnny P LoveTrain

Yes the artist is Cher - which sounds the same as the word "share" - which is what you do when you go 50-50 with someone.
The song is "Half Breed" - but the connection is not Bob Mackie - the connection is a musical connection - this will be the hard part of the game - but someone should get it and I will give small hints here and there. There will be signs and symbols so don't crash - you just might get it.

There will be signs and symbols so don't crash ...
Well, there's a lovely clue. Now, if only the answer were as apparent!
My mind races with Cher/Karen images...there was the one time (on their 1st?? special) when Karen comes out in a long, dark wig imitating Cher.

All I am thinking is that in the 1976 TV special, Karen was dressed as Cher singing I CAN DREAM CAN'T I...and then she was dressed as an Indian playing with drums. Is that it??
Cher, Halfbreed, and Indian Karen with Drums.

I knew that when the name Cher came up people would mention the Very First Special but that is not the connection either.
The connection actually has to do with the music in the song "Half Breed". So put you thinking high hat on and maybe you will get it soon.

Yes, Hal Blaine is the connection. Not only was he the session drummer on "Close To You" - he also played drums on several songs on the albums "Close To You", "Carpenters" and "A Song For You".
Another clue that was in there is: "So put you thinking high hat on and maybe you will get it soon".
Great game... will have another one soon.
