This is a tough one. It's a difficulty level of FIVE STARS. It will take a real Carpenters fan to get this one. But even before figuring out the Carpenters connection the person who guesses this artist and song will have to be someone who knows a lot of artists - even the somewhat forgotten ones.
Here's the clues:
Artist: Farley Sada
Song: Memory?

Here's my try Michael McDonald I keep Forgeting(get it memory loss) Good guess Johnny sorry though the answer is not Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin".
As mentioned before this one is a super tough one. The song in the clue was a top 20 hit - but it's one of those forgotten hits - not many remember this one. The artist had two Top 20 hits. Often times this artists name was listed in conjunction with the group he/she was lead vocalist for. Sometimes his/her name was listed as a solo artist.

Just some wild guesses: Does/do the artist(s) have something to do with "Chris" or "Granger" Does the song title have to do with the word "unforgettable" or "remember"?

Just some wild guesses: Does/do the artist(s) have something to do with "Chris" or "Granger" Does the song title have to do with the word "unforgettable" or "remember"? Hello Dreams... Yes on both accounts - but only one guess in each question you posed is correct. Here's a little hint - the name in reference to Farley never worked with James Stewart in any way.

Any ideas here?
By the way... GoodOldDreams was making some headway here with the questions he asked a few days ago.
Here's the clues again:
Artist: Farley Sada
Song: Memory?

The artist wouldn't happen to be Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders, would it?
The clue "sada" doesn't ring a bell at all... any more hints?

Hi Dreams... Chrissie Hynde is not the artist. Though, you are on the right track with the first name - you just have the gender wrong.
For the artist's first name think of any Sada's you may have heard of over the past ten years and you should come up with the last name.
Here is a new clue this artist is English and has had two hits on the U.S. charts and actually charted with a third single - which I forgot about - the third is a duet with a well known female singer-songwriter prominently famous in the 70's. If you make all the right moves you may figure out this artist. But the Carpenters connection will be even harder to figure.

Another Guess Chris Rea

Ruling out Kris Kristofferson and Christopher Cross because they are not British (although Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford), I thought about Chris Rea also. However, I couldn't make a connection between "Rea" and the clue "Sada."

Chris De burgh is another guess

The first name of Chris is correct.
Dreams you are right in that there isn't any connection with Rea in the clue "Sada" - there also isn't any connection with DeBurgh or Cross.
Remember this is a truly forgotten artist - so even after you guess the artist's name you probably still won't know who he is. But just concentrate on the last name and think of Sada. What's the first last name that comes to mind when you hear the name Sada?
Let me give you a clue to this Sada... here's a one word clue: Iowa.
Remember this mystery artist recorded a semi successful duet (it reached #85 on the U.S. charts in 1983). If you take all the right moves you should be able to figure this out. Our mystery person also had two top 20 U.S. hits in 1978-79.
Here is the clue to the mystery song: MEMORY?

Is the artist Chris Thompson?

|

Chris Thompson was in Manfred Mann's Earth Band in the mid 70's ("74/75-79) and left that band in 1979 to form the LA based band Night. They had 2 hits...Hot Summer Nights and If You Remember Me...the 2nd song, I hope, is the answer for the song clue.
