Okay here it is Game #3. Several of you did pretty well on guessing pieces of the answer on Game #2 - let's see if anyone can take game #3 all the way.
Remember that the song in the clue is not a song the Carpenters recorded but in one way or another there is a Carpenters related connection.
So here are the clues for Twisted Logic Game #3:
STAR SEARCH WINNER
"Oz"
The object of the game is to name the artist, the song and it's connection to Carpenters/Karen/Richard.

Star Search is waaay back somewhere in my mind. I don't hold much hope of a spontaneous memory popping up there.
"Oz" , on the other hand, reminds me of Judy Garland. I know Carpenters covered 2 songs sung by Judy. The 1st being "Little Girl Blue" amd the 2nd being "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas".
I don't really get any true feeling for where these puzzle clues are leading.
Befuddled now... ;-)wisejester7

Hi Wisejester - you did make one breakthrough. But remember as stated in the first post in this thread - the song in the clue is not a song which Carpenters have recorded. So "Little Girl Blue" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" are not part of the answer. But definitely you made a breakthrough.
Anybody else have any ideas to add to the mix here?
BTW... I forgot to mention this is a 4-star difficulty level game. Which means this is a tough one.

So are we talking Judy Garland? or Judy related...like Carneige Hall or something?
Yep. I'm lost.

Well, were not talking Judy Garland... but there is something Judy Garland related. But Judy Garland is not the artist in this game.
I'll give you guys a big clue. The "Oz" clue pertains to the song in this game... not the artist.

I'll take a stab at it... How about "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and "The Rainbow Connection"? How WOULD you get to Oz? Well, let's see... From New England: "You can't get there from here" From Pennsylvania: "No, that road's closed...that one's under construction..." From Kansas: "Go straight to the next intersection, about 20 miles or so, turn right, go another 20 miles or so..." From California: "Dude, try some of this..." From Texas: "Don't forget to stop at the Chili Cook-Off while you're a-passin' through" From Florida: "You're gonna need a boat..." From Australia: "You're already here, mate! Have a Foster's"

Pretty funny Dave - it's great to have your bits of humor back on the forum again.
Wisejester and Dave... you're both correct in that the song in this game is "Over The Rainbow". Although the song "The Rainbow Connection" does not figure into the answer.
Now that we have the song we just need the artist and the connection.Once again the artist clue is: STAR SEARCH WINNER...and the game continues

I may have it Rick unless my info is flawed its is related to a carpenters song in some way (maybe credits in a song) correct? hope I did not spoil the game but I may have a connection. I had to cheat a little so I will refrain from answering right now I can e-mail you Rick with a connection and see if its the right answer if you like.

I am curious to find out what your theory is on the artist and the connection. Please post it on the forum. The cumulative ideas should end up bringing an answer.
As for credits in a song - the answer is in the credits of this particular artist's rendition of "Over The Rainbow". Though, at this point the artist's name has not yet been guessed.

Linda Eder is not the artist.
The connection has to do with a name in the credits of our mystery artist's recording of "Over The Rainbow" - and also the entire debut album of our mystery artist. The name in the credits is a major connection to the Carpenters.

Is it Paul Williams who produced Miss Eder's Debut Album/CD?

Okay all we have SAM HARRIS and the song "Over The Rainbow" (and as I keep adding in conjunction Sam Harris' entire debut album which includes "Over The Rainbow").
So, what's the connection?
If nobody gets the "connection" today then I will come back tonight with the answer.
