The object to this game is to give us the name of the song and it's artist and how it relates to the Carpenters/Karen or Richard.
This is a TWO STAR level - so it's fairly easy. The hardest part will be figuring out how this song connects to Karen/Richard/Carpenters.
Here are the clues:
MOORE
"YOU DESERVE A BREAK TODAY"

Rick,
Didn't Barry Manilow write "You Deserve A Break Today"? I think he did. Barry was also at A&M in the seventies, along with the Carpenters. I still haven't figured out "Moore" or the song.

There is a Carpenters connection to a certain Barry Manilow song (which has something to do with the name Moore). The hardest part of this game will be figuring out the connection.
Good try Wisejester.

Does "Moore" have to do with Mandy Moore? She covers a lot of 70's and 80's music.

I started to write this yesterday, but I don't have all the answers. The Manilow connection, I believe, is the song the Carpenters recorded, "Can't Smile Without You." And, of course, wisejester7, you're absolutely correct in that at least the You Deserve a Break Today McDonalds commercial message was SUNG by Manilow - I don't know whether he wrote it or not, but he was their spokesperson for a time. I do remember that - beautiful, almost tear-up sort of warm and fuzzy commercials with him singing the You Deserve a Break Today, so get up and get away to McDonalds....... But Moore? I'm stumped on that part. Do I have any of this correct, Rick? Are we on the right track? Tim

Hmm..."Can't Smile Without you" is a good guess, but I wonder if it might somehow be "Mandy".

Now THAT would make a lot of sense. Mandy (Moore)....of course. At least, it seems LOGICAL to me. Haven't a clue about the connection, though. Tim

Mandy Moore was a HUGE fan of Karen Carpenter and was quoted in PEOPLE or some other articles.
McDonald's is where R and K used to eat at, while recording and such. I believe the McDonald's in Downey is a historic place...

Some good detective work here.
You've got the song and artist correct. It is "Mandy" by Barry Manilow - but the connection is not yet answered.
BTW - the songs used in this The Twisted Logic game series will not be songs that Carpenters recorded - they are songs (recorded by others) which are, in one way or another, connected to the Carpenters.
Keep on trying gang...
Someone may get the connection.

Does this have to do with the song I BELIEVE YOU which was recorded by Dorothy Moore. And was this song backed with CAN'T SMILE WITHOUT YOU which was a Barry Manilow penned song?

The connection has to do only with the song "Mandy" by Barry Manilow.
BTW... Barry Manilow did not write "Can't Smile Without You", it was written by Chris Arnold, David Martin and Geoff Morrow. And contrary to popular belief Barry Manilow was not the first to record "Can't Smile..." - the Carpenters got to it first.
I will come back with the connection tonight if nobody else can figure it out.

Okay all here is the answer to Twisted Logic Game #2
Barry Manilow's "Mandy" was displaced from the Billboard U.S. #1 spot on January 25, 1975 by the Carpenters' "Please Mr. Postman".
In retrospect I should have given this game a difficulty level of 3 stars instead of 2 stars.
This was a fun and interesting round.
Now comes game #3.

:)I am not good at all with puzzles...especially these kind, but I now understand about the kind of connections you want and it' an interesting informative thread.
