Okay this was a tough one so here is the answer.
The song is "Venus" by Frankie Avalon.
Venus is the godess of love in beauty in Greek mythology. Frankie Avalon also had a hit in 1959 with a song titled "Why".
The song connects to the Carpenters in that in 1978 Richard produced and Karen was associate producer for a single which B.L. Mitchell released. The a-side was named "Where I Want To Be", the b-side was a remake of Avalon's "Venus".
