5 stars. I love this song very much. My classmate and I joined the School Singing Contest in 2002 and we sang this song. We finally got first-runner up.

Four Stars
I love this song and I love it a lot. Karen does a wonderful job with this country-tinged pop classic. I especially like the optimistic lyric. what a beautiful sunshiny song.

I gave this reluctant hit 5 stars because it's one of great Carpenter uptempo songs. Surprisingly Karen and Richard didn't pick this song for single status until D.J.s and the public demanded so. It shot up the charts and is sung and hummed by legions of fans throughout the world. I love it!!!

Finding out from a retired astronaut that this song is loved by many in NASA, and has been a popular wake-up song on many Space Shuttle missions was just the icing on this huge cake. I still dream of having it for my wake-up song, watching the Earth rotate beneath me as we float in the arms of creation...

Not liking this song is like not liking being on a paradise island with your favorite drink in hand.

3 Star Rating I'm kind of middle of the road concerning this track Its popular, catchy tune loses its vibrancy after some time but put back in its correct timeframe, I can see why the track was a worldwide success. I love the video recording that goes with the track on "The Carpenters First TV Special" and Karen looks like she has lots of fun with the song each time she performs it

4 stars We sang this in school for a spring concert back in the 70's. I absolutely loved it as a kid. I think it was my favorite Carpenters' song. I still love the song, but not as much as when I was younger. The great country feel, the upbeat lyrics, and Karen's readings are all top notch and a wonderful standard.

Never been a huge "Top Of The World" fan...but I respect it's appeal and success. Interesting that Rich himself described the song as "three minutes of nothing much" (or words to that effect). I prefer Karen's lazier vocal on the original album cut.
And lastly, who can forget the moment in "Friends" ('black-out' episode) when the cast sing "Top Of The World" oblivious that Ross is fighting a cat on the balcony behind them!?
4 Stars. L

In all honesty, "Top Of The World" was never one of my favorites. As a record I felt it did what it was supposed to. It was fun, happy and bright, and got a lot of hands clapping along. That in itself is a wonderful thing. .... but [for me] as a song, it lacked the depth of sincerity. A few years ago, while living in Nashville, TN - my husband and I attended a [song]Writers Night. John Bettis was participating in that evening's lineup of songs being performed by the writers who'd penned them. John sang many of his hit songs, including this standard which he co-wrote with Richard. The audience just ate it up. Everyone was singing along, - feeling as if they'd just run into an old friend. It was a truly special moment for everyone, including John I'm sure, to see a room full of some of Nashville's top writers and industry folks join in to bring this song to life. Songs are like shooting stars. They soar into your heart for a few moments, and then they're gone. "Top Of The World" makes you feel good and that's important, but with that said, it's not among my favorite Carpenters tunes. Thanks for letting me share, magiclamp P.S. I'd also like to add that John Bettis is one of the sweetest and most humble of gentleman.

As some of you, I had to sing this song in choir back in 1995, a time where I knew nothing about the Carpenters. I have to admit, I never really liked that track. But when I got to know the Carpenters and felt love at first sight for their music some years later, I really began to like TOTW. Thats just another proof of the Carpenters magic to me. They make me love songs that I never really cared about before. 4 stars
