As a lover of Karen's low voice and notes she can reach, this one is a real favorite of mine. An unusual song but one that I can get into.

5-Stars
There are many reasons I give this one five stars.
Let's start with the most obvious reason. Karen sings in that eerie dark lower voice. This is just awesome. Karen really cuts to the soul of the matter and really puts every ounce of her commitment and emotion into this song.
I also love the lyrics. This is one of the most imaginative lyrics John Bettis has ever written. The song paints many mind pictures as you listen to it. And it's a beautiful portrait painted by the lyrics.
And of course behind Karen's lovely voice is the music. This again is an outstanding arrangement which accents Karen's flawless performance.

weird song & title. But Ks slow & mournful reading makes this song an absolute GEM. I love how she goes down to those low notes & soars high again. Masterpiece 5 *****

5 stars. Pure perfection. Her vocal is so haunting and full of power. Just a luscious vocal reading from her, also with wonderful imagery.

This is just a 3 star song for me.
I love Karen's lower register, but this is almost too low for her. It doesn't sound comfortable for her, which is unusual for Karen.
I like the haunting sound to the music and lyric, but it really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It seems more like images, but not the full picture. It is far from being a bad song, just not a full and complete song to me.

"Crescent Noon" paints a picture of walking through a dream-like mountain haze with golden leaves at your feet. It's my favorite non-single track from the "Close To You" album. Karen's voice is just out of this world - so clear, so rich, so aching. I particularly love her pronounciation of the word "december". Also, the stark vocal harmonies during the line "lies one answer that is waiting to be heard" - it teases you and resolves in the most beautiful way.
Absolutely 5 stars for me. I have to go and listen again! L

I also love this song-masterfully aranged and performed. Interpretation of lyrics leaves plenty to chew on- I like that too. Not long ago I was waiting to meet with a friend and was listening to CN when he arrived- I handed him the earphones and he heard it for the first time. He's an admirier of Carpenters but not necessarily a fan- but he admitted that though this wasn't one of their hits, it was great music! 5 stars for me. O.E.

I agree totally with you Chris, the low register and overall wide range is one of the highlights of this great, and rather mysterious, song. This one would always be in my top 20 C's numbers.

karen's voice goes so low in this song that it sounds rather odd to me, but i mean this as a compliment. it just goes to show how special, amazing, and unusual her talent was.
