Welcome toTammy and (belatedly) to poppybill17, and I agree totally with all the comments. The Carpenters were a once in a generation (or, once in several generations) act and are still having a huge influence. And I also love the clarity of their work. Some of the rap/hip-hop of today is being done well with a positive message for the younger generation, but a lot of it is not. And in time a good many of the youth join us in appreciating the C's as the best group ever.

Only just begun definitely is one of my top 5 favourite C.'s Songs. Back in 1970 it was just a beautiful song with wonderful and optimistic lyrics - since 1983 it's just heartbreaking! "And when the evening comes we smile.." I don't know why, but my favourite part of the song is when Karen sings "Talking it over just the two of us" 5 Stars

The Carpenters chose "We've Only Just Begun" as their signature song. It is a beautiful song, for sure, and the first song I think of in association with the Carpenters.
