;DWe've Only J. Begun: i rated this a full 5 stars because it is truly a beautiful song. Of course, not only is Karen's voice bold and flawless, it matches perfectly with the musical arrangement Richard orchestrated. This song was a gigantic hit for the C's and just the title alone fits perfectly with how it was only the beginning for the C's. Little did they realize just how very true this was at the time for them. It's bedtime for me....i will review the rest tomorrow.

5-stars
This song is a classic among classics. From the very first note the "chill" factor is there. Everything about this song is outstanding. The vocals, the arrangement for both music and vocals, the lyrics, the melody. It's all excellent.
Although I don't play this one as much as I once used to, it still remains one of my all-time favorite songs. I just love it.

We've Only Just Begun is one of my favorite songs of all time. The beat, the melody, and specially Kren's voice are fantastic! I have actually played this song on "repeat" fot hours at a time. I never get tired of this song obviously. I wonder if Karen knew what a classic she was creating when she recorded this song. I absolutely love it.

One of my favorite songs on the album. Whenever I hear it, it makes me feel good and takes me back to the early years of when I was in the fan club and how much I LOVED the Carpenters!

We've Only Just Begun has to be one of my all time favorite Carpenter songs. I think Karen sings it beautifully. I am just overwhelmed by that "chill factor" when I listen to the absolute tight, beautiful harmonies. I love the embellishments Richard made in the arrangement of it, and feel they performed this one with all of their heart and soul. This is a beautiful song, and one that makes me immediately picture a young, vibrant brother and sister reaching for the stars. The beautiful music created by this song certainly helped propell them right to the top! Absolutely wonderful in every way. Though I have heard this song and have played/sung this song thousands of times, I never tire of hearing the Carpenters perform it. Definitely 5 stars!

I still find it amazing that this song began its life as a bank commercial! I am gratefull that Richard could see how much potential it had and that Roger Nicholes was able to provide Richard with a complete song to work with. It would be interesting to know how many marriages, graduations and proms have made this song part of there ceremony, the lyrics give one a feeling moving into a wonderful future, I can't think of a more optomistic tune. Jim 5 stars

A modern day classic. This song is near perfection. Although it is 35 years old, it sounds fresh and timeless and its message of hope of new beginnings, still rings true. I never tire of this song.

I don't think it's possible to be a true Carpenters fan and not love this song in some way. It's what the Carpenters are all about: the perfect sentiment matched by the perfect performance. Whilst "Close To You" came first chronologically, "Only Just Begun" marked the beginning of a classic run of stunning vocal performances by Karen; vocals with an extra bit of magic, even by her standards. Everyone likes different aspects of each song for their own reasons. In "Just Begun", for me, it's the way Karen's intimate and whispery vocal builds through the line "so many roads to choose, we start out walking and learn to r-aaaa-un"; the 'funkier' feel of the bridge; and those smooth harmonious vocals in the following verse. Pure Magic! 5 Stars. L

This is certainly a Capenters five-star classic. Isn't it great to listen to a song and understand the lyrics, not be offended by swearing and have the words sung (rap is CRAP). I suppose I'm showing my age (64) but I do like some of the new singers and groups such as Joss Stone, Bernard Fanning, Ja,mes Blunt, Katie Melua and The Youth Group. However, the Carpenters will always be my Number 1 artists. poppybill@bigpond.com
