"Close to you" is such a beautiful song, here you can hear already the quality of Karen's unique warm voice at such an early age. Richard, also at a young age, had an excellent ear for hits! Also I like to thank Rick Henry for keeping me posted! This is funand also a great opportunity to meet other fans, as I alreay have on "leadsister". To my special fan-friends I like to dedicate this song today. I'd like to give "Close To You" a ***** star-rating, also because it was the start of their wonderful succesful career!

A lot of songs connect on more than one level. I have felt songs deep in my heart and a lot of them were sung by Karen. But the song "Close to You" connects to my soul. I can feel it inside, in the pit of my stomach. I hear Karen singing, not like its coming out of the speakers but like she is over my shoulder singing in my ear. I have listened to this song a thousand times and watched it on the tapes and DVDs but it never seems to get old. And if I'm away on business or something and time goes by where I don't hear the song I miss hearing it. And I don't think to myself "I miss hearing the song," I say "I miss Karen." That voice, I feel her laying her hands on my troubled soul every time I hear it. I can’t understand it. You know, I don’t know anything about music. I couldn’t explain what qualities in Karen’s voice make it so beautiful, but beautiful it is. If you could “see” a song this one would be a vision you would remember the rest of your life. I can’t explain what moved me to write this but I am glad I have lived in a time where I have had the opportunity to hear it. Thanks for listening. GREAT idea Rick this is so coooooool :-X :-X :-X

I have no clue how to work these posts. All I want to do is find out if any or all of the Carpenter's music is available on 5.1 surround sound cd's. Especially Close to You. Can someone please tell me how I can get this information? Thank you!!!!

Hey, you did OK. There was a 5.1 release a few months ago, and I'll bet that Rick can tell you how to get a copy. Welcome aboard,
Dave

Last year (or maybe the year before that an SACD Edition of "The Signles 1969-1981" was released on 5.1 surround. it sounds fantastic. It includes "Close to You", "we've Only Just Begun", "Calling Occupants...", "For All We Know", "I Believe You", "Superstar", "Only Yesterday", "Please Mr. Postman" and several others.
Here's a link to it: The Singles 1969-1973 (SACD)
Hope this helps.
