It was Sweet Sweet Smile. I listened to the Yesterday Once More compilation, disc one.And after I listened to it all the way through I had to go back and listen to Sweet Sweet Smile two more times.

Hi Sammy, I would have to say, that the last CARPENTERS song I listened to would be YOU'RE THE ONE from Lovelines album. I used to dislike this song from THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY because A) new song and I didn't know it and b) I thought it kind of sounded boring (but I thought the same way about SOLITAIRE and I grew to adore SOLITAIRE) so I grew to admire YOU'RE THE ONE , and was able to see the potential of the song. The whole side of the song. Karen sings it as if it were made for her. A lot of the "boring" type songs, I really adore now (like LITTLE GIRL BLUE, and WHEN I FALL IN LOVE). I have come to appreciate the Standard-like tunes. Which brings up the question. How come they don't have a Carpenters album called Standards...
When I fall In Love Little Girl Blue This Masquerade Solitaire I Can Dream Can't I Baby It's You Look To Your Dreams You're In Love Sometimes Ordinary Fool A Song For You Boat To Sail Because We Are In Love Trying To Get The Feeling Again Without A Song(full version) The Rainbow Connection We've Only Just Begun Superstar
These would be my choices for standard like songs.

I was up all night as I couldn`t sleep and played the solo album. God, it`s fantastic!!! My body keeps changing my mind was on all the time, especially the last part where the song really takes off. Love it, and fantastic to hear our favourite singer do a great disco number. Richard has on several occations said that he don`t believe Karen was made to do disco. I disagree, I belive Karen was made to sing everything with that fantastic voice and this song, amongst others, is a reminder of this.

[glow=red,2,300]hi sammy...the last song I listened to was "For All We Know" on the Live in Japan '74 video which was the last song performed on that video. But that voice keeps bringing me back so, I may need to mellow out with something else like the A Song For You songs. I love Piano Picker and Road Ode.[/glow]

"Last One Singin' The Blues", I listened to the solo album. What a great way to end it. Karen has such a neat voice.

That song is a classic and I must say I am glad it was never finished as this "work-track" is great! Fantastic to hear Karen singing this song "live", talking to the musicians etc. Almost makes me feel I am in the studio. My God, her soloalbum and session was great!!!

I just listened to CARPENTERS Perform Carpenter 2003. Sure brings back alot of memories. Also, finally got a copy of Olivia Newton John's 'Hollywood Nights" that has guest Karen Carpenter but she is only shown dancing. Anyone know why she didnt sing on the show?

Hi Laura, I think the reason is cuz she was busy. But if you watch the clip, she does sing along, and you can catch a snippet of her singing...she looks into the camera...seems to catch our gaze...and then smiles and turns away. I heard that she was filming Music Music Music and only had a bit of time to make an appearance on the special of Olivia's.
My thoughts, Cameron clongo83@hotmail.com

Hi.
If I am not mistaken, Karen was intended to be a bigger guest on Olivias tv-special and the plan was that she was going to sing something from her fantastic soloalbum, but we all know what happened to that one and therefor the performance was reduced. I might be mistaken but I am pretty sure this is a fact.

Yes, Christian. You are right. She was to have sung from something in her solo album. Then the Music Music Music special was taped, and Karen found some time to go to the Olivia special. I was kinda mad that Karen was relegated to the end of the chorus line...but she didn't seem to mind, and she was holding onto to Andy Gibb (another singer who died in his prime)...Also on the song, wasn't Karen holding onto one of those bikers...I kinda had a good chuckle at that...I wonder if that biker was pleased or embarrassed...That would be a neat story to tell your kids one day..."Yeah. I had Karen Carpenter, that late pop star come and stand by me and and hold me, while they were shooting a tv special..."
Anyhow, Cam clongo83@hotmail.com

I don't know WHY I always choose the japanese compilation Treasures when I want to listen Carpenters, not only one specific track, but also one or the two CD's it has that compilation. Maybe the clean sound or the nice selections it has? (a non-hits compilation and all of them mixed).

I was just listening to "Passage" writing my review of the song tracks and stopped at "I Just Fall In Love Again". What a great tune.

I listened to a variety of songs today and noted my thoughts whenever I especially liked what I was hearing. Here are my notes: Karen's Theme (his best instrumental?) The End Of The World (Live In Japan) Sleigh Ride Da Doo Ron Ron (Live in Japan) Leader Of The Pack (Live in Japan) (... they said he was bid( )) She has a lot of fun with this one. My Favorite Things (Christmas Collection) Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (Christmas Portrait -- those deep rich tones) Can you imagine the rigorous selection process for backup singers for the Christmas specials? Ticket To Ride (deep tones -- amazing)

I Can Dream Can't I
from
Horizon
They should have done an entire album of old WWII songs. Just like they could have done an entire album for Jazz and Country.

:)Beechwood 54789..from Reflections cd..very catchy..as far as I can recall, until I had this cd, I had not heard this one..and I wonder if it really is a remake they did from one of their oldies favorites.
