Hi All, You know I have watched a lot of Karen's performances on tape, and I get the idea that Karen was very gifted at being a natural comedienne. She knew how to laugh, make fun of herself and make others laugh. I love her facial expressions...her zany eye movements...she is so cute! I love that song she and Kristy McNichol do on her first Christmas special, The Christmas Alphabet Song. She just seems like a big kid at heart. Also the fact that she loved stuffed animals. Maybe the stuffed animals gave her some love...like, she felt secure and safe around them. Lots of us like to sleep with a teddy bear or something...like that, I guess... I also love her interacting with BOB HOPE. Richard though, always seemed kind of aloof...I mean he liked a good joke, but I guess around the camera he came off a bit aloof. Although I love that sketch he does with John Denver on their 1976 special...cute! It would have been interesting if Karen would have done tv comedy on prime time...she would have been good at it. I guess it is because she is a nice person, people can relate to her as a normal person(who happened to sell millions of records) and she is down to earth.
My jumbled thoughts, Cameron clongo83@hotmail.com

I agree Karen did have a natural comedic sense about her. I would have loved to see her do a Woody Allen or Mel Brooks movie. She could have been a hit. Her facial expressions alone are quite funny. And that endearing sort of laugh smile in her voice is priceless.
On the first special Karen, Richard and John Denver, did a musical comedy routine. The lyrics were something like "these are the jokes folks". Karen says something about a guy who hadn't had a bite so she bit him. I would love to have that on CD. It would be great to have all the music (that hasn't yet been released) from their TV specials released on disc.

Karen would have been great on the big screen. So pretty and such a natural talent. Can you imagine her gueststarring on comedy shows like Friends? She would have been a ball. Or , as Rick mentions, a Woody Allen film. Everyone that knew here said she was really funny and also sarcastic at times, I can certainly releate to that myself. She had such great facialexpressions at times. You can also see on the TV specials et. al that she was relaxed in front of the camera whereas Rich was more frozen. On the "remembering the Carpenters" dvd there is a bonus clip with an outtake from MMM where they speak to their Mexican fans. It is so hilarious the way Karen ends it, classic Karen I think!
