I'm just starting this thread on Donna Summer so we can talk more about her..., I think she deserves her own Disco thread.
I'll come back to share some thoughts when I have more time. [glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland Chayer[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

Thanks for starting the thread Roland. I love Donna Summer. Not only is she my favorite disco artist, but she is also one of my favorites artists of alltime. And my second favorite female vocalist. Donna Summer has an amazing voice. Her range, power, and control - she is one of the best of the best. What's more 20 years after her reign of the charts she still sings as well as she did back then. Maybe even better if that's possible. I also like Donna because she seems to be sincere about what she's doing and why she's doing it. My favorite songs by Donna Sumer are: "Working The Midnight Shift", "Spring Affair", "I Feel Love", "Cold Love", "Lucky", "Sunset People", "Journey to The Center Of My Heart", "Love Is The Healer", "Cats Without Claws", and "Take Heart". I have more favorites but these are the ones that come to mind right now.

Great idea! Donna Summer was a favorite of mine too and still is. I bought a DVD of her in concert and she still has an amazingly flawless voice. She sang songs like MacArthur Park and some of her old ones like Hot Stuff, etc. and she also sang a couple songs from a play she produced for Broadway. I don't remember the name.
Her husband sings in her backup group. They were married back in the Disco era so it's also nice to see marriages last too and the fact that they work together like that. Even more so, that she is the main attraction and he is just as happy to be there singing backup.
That goes along with her sincerity that you mentioned Rick. She just make you feel that way about her.

I am not into disco but there is an undeniable talent in Donna Summer that cannot be ignored. She is indeed a great vocalist, still sounds great today and she is also a strong talented and beautiful lady. My songs from her that I like are the more familiar ones like McCarther Park, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough), Hot Stuff, She Works Hard For Her Money and even This Time I Know Its For Real. With 12 gold singles(2 which are platinum) and 11 gold albums (3 which are platinum) Donna Summer is a true superstar that survived the disco era and continued to make hits up to the 1990's now thats amazing.

As with the Carpenters these days I tend to like Donna Summer's lesser known songs. Though of the hits my favorites are: I Feel Love MacArthur Park Heaven Knows Last Dance Hot Stuff Dim All The Lights On The Radio The Wanderer Love Is In Control This Time I Know It's For Real I Will Go With You ( this song brought back onto the U.S. singles chart in 1999) Another lesser known song I forgot to mention earlier is "With Your Love". This is one of my most favorite Donna songs. It's from the movie "Thank God It's Friday".
