This round takes into the "classic rock" genre with Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like An Eagle" and Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver".
Which song will you chose to go to the semi-finals?
"Fly Like An Eagle" by Steve Miller Band - This song reached #2 for two weeks in February 1977 and was certified Gold for selling over a million copies. The song features an interesting spacey synthsizer effect throughout the song with lyrics about eradicating poverty.
"Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright - Reached #2 for three weeks in April 1976 and was certified Gold for selling over a million copies. According to Wright, this song was a "Love letter to God." "Dream Weaver" is recorded with keyboards and synthesizer with drums in background which a pop rarity in 1970s.

Tough choice again. I like both songs equally, but I don't really like them very much. So in interest of playing the game ... I voted (unenthusiastically) for "Fly Like An Eagle".

I love both songs tremendously. Of course my favorite music genre is late 60's to 70's male lead vocal classic rock. For me it all started with the Beatles and kept growing from there.
I went with Gary Wrght's "Dream Weaver" I really likethe "message to God" aspect about this song. All the way around this is an excellent song - well sung and well produced.

I enjoy the spacey synthesizer work on both of these numbers immensely, but the lyrics on the urgency of fulfilling basic human needs in the world really move me, so my vote goes to "Fly Like an Eagle."

Not too crazy about "Fly Like an Eagle" although I do like the synthesizer effect...I have always LOVED DreamWeaver..so it gets my vote. Wright's vocals and all the "spacey" effects truly hit home with me much more than Fly L. an Eagle. I recall listening to this as I was a teen, in my room with my blacklight posters glowing (and no, I never did touch any of the stuff that really put a lotta folks in space) and really thinking i was one cooool gal!

I went with the Steve Miller Band's Fly Like An Eagle. Dreamweaver was one of those songs that, unfortunately, the radio spoiled for me. They played it so often, I got entirely sick of it, and wince when it comes on the radio today - that's a tough thing to do - play something so much that even I burn out on it - I'm known to listen to the same thing over and over again - but something about this one took me out.... I also like the words to Fly Like An Eagle. I think it's a great tune. Tim

We seem to be at an impasse in this round.
