Both songs were on the Billboard Top 100 from April through August 1977. Both songs reached #1. "Sir Duke" was #1 for three weeks from May 21 to June 4, 1977. "Got To Give It Up" was #1 for a week on June 25, 1977.
What are your thoughts on each song? Which one is your favorite?

Okay, I will start the voting here...
This was a tough one for me as both songs are outstanding and both artists are huge mega-talents.
I went with "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder. This song is a classic of all-time. I especially like the way Stevie names some of music's great early jazz artists - Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Satchmo (Louis Armstrong). I also love the horns in this song. This is a favorite singalong for me.

Lyrical content alone would put S. Wonder on top, but add to that the exuberant way he sings the song and it's hands down a winner.

Wow Rick the battle of the musical genius's here. I went with Stevie Wonder on the merit of the song itself I simply like it better than the selection you chose from Marvin Gaye. If it was strictly artist vs artist Marvin Gaye would have won by quite a margin. I feel he was the best of his time and I am not a huge fan of his either I just recognise his emense talent more than Stevie Wonder who is also an emense talent.

When I think of Marvin Gaye, I tend to think of the extraordinarily inventive multi-layered dialog and vocals in "What's Going On." When I think of Stevie Wonder, I think of a wider range of favorites from "Too Shy" to "All in Love is Fair," to the songs he wrote and popularized by others, such Aretha Franklin's "Until You Come Back to Me" and The Spinners' "It's a Shame."
Unfortunately, Marvin's "Got to Give It Up" and Stevie's "Sir Duke" are not among my favorites in their vast repertoire of songs. If restricted to make a decision between these two particular songs, however, I would choose Stevie's more catchy "Sir Duke" over Marvin's thinly sustained falsetto in "Got to Give It Up."
