Hey Everyone ~ Welcome! Rick, thanks for creating this section of the forum. You know I find irony in finding your message to me this morning, and especially that you created this little "corner" for me and my ramblings (we all know by now how I CAN, indeed, ramble, yes)? But here was my thought on the way to work this morning, and it had to do with you, Rick. Last night, when I read Palma's sad, sad email, and my heart just went out to her, one of the first things I automatically did was to tell everyone here on the forum. And why is that? Because, I know we all care about each other, and I knew you all would want to know about this tragic event. I knew you'd want to be giving thought and prayer on Palma's behalf because of the loss in her life. It would be the same no matter who the individual was - anyone on this forum - we would want to know, and we would want to do whatever we could to help, if that was nothing more than our message to them. I will get to you in a minute, Rick, cause this really IS about YOU. Just takes me a while to get there. The same was true when Jim died - the first thought I had was "I've got to let the Carpenters Online family know right away." And, of course, when I hear good news from Becky or someone, I so enjoy sharing that. Not to mention the reviews I've been doing. Actually, that might lead to something profitable. The Broken Cup reviews got the notice of Fred Guarino at Tiki, who e-mailed me and told me he liked my writing style, and that, from time-to-time, there are those who need liner notes, and website reviews done for them. He told me he would mention me to folks as they asked. I was highly complimented by that. Okay Rick, read closely - it's because of YOU that all of this happens. YOUR generosity and time in keeping this website, and in particular, this forum section ALIVE! LOOK at the new members we're seeing.....look at the fun we're having sharing information - look at the GOOD we're doing. We're only able to do this because you have made it so. Thanks just isn't enough. It goes way beyond that. I know there was a time when you wondered about whether or not this forum should actually continue, and I think you were able to understand very quickly, at least from those of us that were here at the time, how much we hoped you'd keep it active. And because you have.....here we are today - all the richer and wiser for it. And, though "thank you" seems trite, and not quite adequate, it's the best two words I can think of to convey what I'm thinking. So, Rick ~ truly ~ Thank You, my friend. So now here we are - at Tim's Corner. I wonder what might happen here? Please start threads about things you wish to discuss with me - anything off topic that's appropriate for the site....I'll give you my two cents. Who knows, I'm sure I've still got a story or two in me. Looking forward to a grand time. I send you all the best from here in my corner, Tim

I thought of you tonight, as NBC News showed a montage of college commencement speakers because...Billy Joel gave an address at Syracuse University, and he said something which certainly applies to your true calling... "Do something because you love to do it." It applies to me too, with my "great adventure". Billy looked good.

???So, Has any one seen the movie with Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez that's out on DVD now..called an "An Unfinished Life" ? It also has Bart the Bear (Bart II that is,) and Morgan Freeman. It's one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Redford's daughter-in-law and grand daughter down on their luck, seek Redford out for help in the mountains. Gorgeous scenery. There are 2-3 violent scenes, but overall it's very good I thought.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls: I'm sequencing "Have You Talked To Him Today" from The Broken Cup, to sing at church tomorrow. And....it just occurred to me that I am horrible at arranging! Attempting to "keep it simple" is very difficult for me to do, and it's F R U S T R A T I N G me to no end. So far, w/o difficulty, and, thanks to the Lead Sheets, I have the first piano part completed, and I put the "violin" line in. I've attempted the flute line about a million times now, w/o success. So, when all else fails......... think , yes? I'm going to do something for myself that I have not done in years. I'm going back to school. I'm going to take an arranging class at our local University, and we can hope that I can learn some techniques that will help me not only to arrange cover tunes, but my own, as well. Wish me luck. Any suggestions are welcomed. I send you the best from here in my corner, Tim

;D Wishing you the Best Tim as you go to school...I know you can do it...and the info from KCmusician...just gives me even more confidence that you can! Sounds like you're having quite a time with the musical arrangement currently...but I think you have a great deal of experience and that will always be with you. There's always room to learn something new though. When in jr. college, for an elective, I took a music theory class, which actually was way over my head but there was a class I should have taken before that one.. so it was a goof up. Anyway, keep up the good work. and thanks for the Tim info. ..KC..

Hi Tim,
I just wanted to say thanks for becoming such a great asset to this forum (not to mention Rick foremost of course). I find you to be someone to cheers people up by what you say, your kindness shows through, you are very informative and even our little investigator when it comes to finding out little tidbits about our Carpenters. Thanks for all that you do!

Hey Everyone - Thanks for the lovely compliments both to Katt and Mary Ann.....very nice things you've said, and I really appreciate the compliments. It's such a great place to be - here at Carpenters Online, yes? I enjoy everyone so much, and all of you (Katt and Mary Ann, you were both here before me- and you all welcomed me immediately and with open arms).....everyone did, and we all still do. That's one of the exceptionally GREAT things about this forum. And....I love it. Thanks again for your words. And Ming, I keep writing but seemingly, don't get finished! One day soon I will be posting new reviews. I think you'll like them. Rick, thanks again for this great place to be. I've been working on the reviews, and hoped to have them done by now, at least for I'll Leave You The Music, but alas, one or two left to go, plus, Palma and I are working on the credits, and she's been a bit overwhelmed, what with Joe's death, etc. In fact, Palm was asked to sing at Joe's funeral, so there is preparation there, plus the fact that her friend is no longer with us, and so....it may be a while before we can get together to finalize all the details of the credits, which are truly important to the overall set of reviews. I don't want to leave any ONE of those music makers out, because they're all so incredible, and Palma used some great players between the making of both pop CD's. Dave, I am getting the new 3 CD set of Billy's most recent concerts entitled 12 Gardens. It's a compilation of Billy's 12 most recent Madison Square Garden live performances on this past tour. So my friends Crystal, and Tommy, Mark and Andy will also be featured. It ought to be truly a cool thing. Glad he looks good - a friend called me on his cell from Madison Square Garden during one of Bill's last performances there SO I COULD LISTEN TO IT OVER THE PHONE. How awesome is that? Billy and band played Zanzibar during that phone call. Eventually, my friend's cell lost the signal, but it was really cool that he did that. I think Jason, my friend, went to every single show Billy did on this last tour, at least in New York. KC, yes I remember that night like it was yesterday. It was at Twin Oaks Country Club. Thanks for your thoughts on this gig - I remember having to pound out the bass line - especially cause we had people dancing to us - and it didn't occur to me at that time that I was arranging, necessarily - just BANGING OUT THE BASS LINE. So, your insight there is interesting. I do remember how carefully you would match everything I would do, with your playing, which was awesome. I loved it when you would begin to play latin instruments AS YOU CONTINUED TO PLAY THE TRAP SET. I don't know HOW you did it, but I always loved it when I'd hear clave's or something like that happening at the same time as the trap set was working, too. Good stuff, Maynard. I'm sure there are a lot of stories you have about your time at Interlochen...and I hope you'll plan on sharing a few of them with us here in my corner. I remember some of them, and the whole music camp idea is a great one....I think you should tell us about. Please and thanks. Also, I just want to say that KC is really the arranger "in the family" if you will. He is EXCELLENT at making synthesized arrangements. His first keyboard/computer died, though - so now I'm not sure what he's using, but I do know he replaced it with another. KC made me a Michael W. Smith "For You" track to use, and it's AWESOME. It's really cool how he arranged it all with the different voicings of instruments. So....let's give credit where credit is due....You got the genes, dude! I wish you all the best from here in my corner, Tim

Hey all... What a great thread. I'm really enjoying everybody's comments.
I think it's great that Palma has become a part of our virtual life and even for some an actual friend. Palma Pascale is a name that longtime fans have known for over 30 years. Now we've come to know her as a person and not just a name. New insights have been given to us about this song, "Love Me For What I Am", which in actuality has been a big favorite with fans since it's release in 1975. I thank you Palma for being a big part of our lives. Tim, I really like your corner. It's cozy.

I'm with you, Rick....I think it's just wonderful that Palma has enjoyed her association with all of us enough to remain an active member of the forum, and become a "part of our virtual lives." And......I love the conversation here in my corner, and I think this IS quite a cozy little area of the forum. I hope to fill it with wonderful bits and pieces of information, and have lots of interesting interaction with forum members; past, present and future. I FINISHED THE I'LL LEAVE YOU THE MUSIC REVIEWS TODAY!!! So, once they've been carefully proofed, and when Palma and I can finalize the credits, I will be posting them.....finally. Sorry it's taken me so long to get these together - but I wanted them to be right, and they had to be done "in-between" everything else that my life throws at me....I know you all know what THAT's like. Anyway, I just hope they were worth the wait. I will begin shortly reviewing IN & OUT OF LOVE. Another stellar compilation. Then there's the Broadway stuff...........(kidding)! I wish you all the best from here in my corner, Tim
