Hi All, Recently, I have begun to take a listen to the Carpenters catalogue of Holiday songs. And I listened to this song over and over again, and have grown to like it. I love her simple phrasing and it's such a gorgeous, sumpious song. There's not much else to say about this song except that once again, Karen makes it her own...

I have heard many versions of this song by a number of talented artists, but none come close to Karen's interpretation. The Carpenters were the first ones, that I heard, to sing it and I think it belongs to them. I have never heard anyone else have the opening verse that they brought to the song. I wonder why? Everyone else starts out with "...Chestnuts roasting..."

The Carpenters in my mind have the definitive recording of this song. The arrangement is outstanding and far beyond any others who have done this song. And Karen voice is sheer beauty.

:)hi again..This song has always been such a beautiful song and I truly agree that Karen and Richard indeed put their special touch to it. It's very easy to imagine yourself there by a fire and just relaxing totally.
