I plan to visit LA, CA soon and I thought I'd drop by the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
Has anyone here been there before? If so, do you have any thoughts / suggestions you'd like to share?
Also, are there other places there of interest to a Carpenters fan?
Thanks.

I've been there once to see a Christmas Performance. It was a local chorus. The Performing Arts Center is absolutely beautiful.
You might want to visit Downey. The Carpenters used to live on Newville Ave. There are the two apartment buildings named Close To You and Only Just Begun, they are both in Downey.

Okay. I'm headed for Long Beach and Performing Arts Center next Saturday afternoon.
Any last minute advice from those who have been there before?

Hi Will, You may possibly already be here in Southern California by now. After you visit The Carpenters Performing Arts Center you may want to take a drive to one of the neighboring beaches. Corona Del Mar is really nice. Laguna Beach is also very popular. Hope you enjoy your visit.

You may not want to visit the beaches I mentioned as they are very close to one of the areas where the fires are. It's really sad that this is happening. the sky is gloomy and there are ashes falling like snow. This has caused me to feel like I have a bad head cold. I spent the day in Long Beach today. Unfortunately I can not say the weather was nice due to the fires. But I did pass Cal state Long Beach where the performing art center is. It's a beautiful center. I hope you are able to see it.

Corona Del Mar is really nice. Laguna Beach is also very popular. Hope you enjoy your visit. Drove by Launa Beach today -- very nice! The weather out here is something I will miss. The Carpenter Exibit is only open for one hour this month! And I plan to be there tomorrow from 11 until noon.

I'm back from LA and specifically the Carpenter Exibit.
Really enjoyed it.
Fortunately, I got there at 10 as they opened it an hour early.
I arrived there at the same time as a young woman arrived to see the exibit.
At first I thought she worked there, but she explained that she loved listening to the Carpenters with her parents as a child and was inspired greatly by Karen.
She is now a drummer in an all female musical group that will release their first album soon.
More to follow.
