I have lived in Downey, Ca. for the past 25 years. I was born in a neighboring city and grew up listening and loving the Carpenters. I wanted to let all of you know that those of us who live in Downey and want to preserve several cultural and historic landmarks are working hard to convince our city council to pass a historical presevation ordinance. As it stands now, any structure, including the former homes of our beloved Carpenters, can be demolished at any time. All of you can help by e-mailing the members of the Downey city council with a cc to the city clerk so that it is officially recorded. These e-mail addresses can be found on city of Downey website. Let them know how much the Carpenters mean to you and how strongly you urge them to pass the historic preservation ordinance. By doing so, the Carpenter's homes can be saved so that fans from all over the world will be able to come to Downey and visit these important sites.

I have not lived in So Cal in well over five years now. But, I will totally be e mailing these folks. Do you mind if I forward the City of Downey web site and all in an e mail to some of my pals? Much more of my pals have e mails and personal web sites than they do, like, MySpace pages, so we are talking about a good 70 some odd folks. Is that alright? I figure that is not spamming if I am sending an e mail to my own personal pals, right?
