Chapter Forty One
Karen and Jon decided upon a quiet Christmas with their 6 children. They didn't want any hassles of any sort. They were exhausted by just about everything. Motherhood was very demanding on Karen, yet luckily she had Jon who did his fare share of fathering, for which she was thankful for.
Karen was taking all of next year off from her music career, and she meant it. Losing Kristi was part of that, and made her think where her priorities lay, which was with her family. She wanted her kids to have happy memories of their mother and father being in love with each other, and with their children.
Karen found out she was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards. She thought it was nice, but now, it didn't mean much as it used to…not that she wasn't thankful, just that it would not add an extra minute to her life, if she won another 100.
They kept in contact with Katie and Daniel to find out how Catharine's family was holding out. They were managing, but that they missed Kristi so much. They are still in shock. Karen's in-laws said they were thinking of driving up to the L.A. area sometime in February, as they wanted to see all 6 of their grandchildren. Karen was excited. Daniel hadn't seen his twin granddaughters yet, and they were growing up so fast.
February did roll around, and Karen won a Grammy for BEST POP PERFORMANCE for WHAT LOVE IS, but actually she tied with another upcoming but great singer Celine Dion. That was a pleasant surprise.
Katie and Daniel did arrive, and loved meeting their name-sakes. They had a good time playing with their grandchildren. Just because one of their 30 grandchildren died did not mean that life ended for them. They had other grandchildren to care about as well, although they missed Kristi so much, and more and more each passing day. It was hard though. Katie and Daniel, were already now in their 70's, and were thinking of buying a place somewhere where it was warm. They went driving around with Jon and Karen looking around at various properties. They wanted a nice size home, so that their families could come for a visit, and yet not terribly large, as it would take too much work to look after a huge home. Several weeks were spent looking around and finally they found the home they wanted. It was a 6 bedroom home, with a separate guest home which had 2 extra bedrooms. There was a pool, and a nice yard with a large garden. The home was very old, but not decrepit. Some work was needed, but not a lot. When Karen got a chance to see it, she loved it upon first sight. She and Katie would help with wall patterns, color schemes, and floor design.
Karen celebrated her 44th birthday on March 2nd, 1994 and had a big celebration, with mostly family and some close friends, with a few celebrity friends attending as well…Dionne, Olivia, Dorthy, Petula, among others. It was a pleasant evening full of laughter, impromptu singing sessions… Later that evening, after all the guests had left, Karen was glancing at her appearance in her vanity mirror, and taking a hard and critical look at her appearance, and her figure. Figure-wise, she was still quite slim. She weighed about 102 pounds. But it was her face, that was causing her some concern. She was starting to get wrinkles around her eyes that were very noticeable. The laugh lines around her mouth, were starting to sag a bit. There were some wrinkles on her forehead, and it bothered her. She knew that many of her celebrity friends would go and see the doctor and get face lifts and tummy tucks, and lyposuction treatments. She had thought about it, but couldn't see herself doing that. It would be too painful to do, and too costly. Yes, she knew that she had the money, but she was still so practical inside. It seemed like such a vain thing to do. She could almost hear her mother Agnes saying that it was a vain thing to do. She smiled, as she knew that if her mother were here, that is what she would have said. Thoughts of her, reminded her of her beloved father. Oh, how she missed him. His drolling sense of humor, and his unmistakable voice. It seemed so much had happened since he had passed on.
That night, she relayed her fears to Jonathon as they were preparing for bed. He just went over and hugged her and said that she was so beautiful that there was nothing she needed done to her. Of course, she had expected him to say that, but it still felt really nice to hear it from his lips. She gave him a kiss of appreciation. That started him off, and pretty soon, they were focused entirely on each other, as the slow but mad passionate feelings of love errupted in the both of them.
Oh, Karen loved her man, her husband. She had just celebrated 5 years with this man, and she wanted another 50 years with him. He lay her down on the bed, and undressed her slowly. She just gazed into his eyes, and ran her hands down his abdomen, feeling the flatness and smoothness of his body. He was still in fantastic shape, and that made her more madly in love with him. He was so sexy, although what made him more sexy, was the fact that he loved his children, and helped her in every way possible, never thinking of himself, but always thinking of her needs. Finally all clothing was off her, and him. He gazed at her body, and loved it. She was still in great shape for having had 6 children, and just looking at her, made him tremble in madness. A vision of loveliness…one of the goddess's…a truly fascinating, wonderful creature lay before him, inviting him into her presence. They made love tenderly, and slowly, caring for each other in the way they knew that the other would enjoy most. They had all night, there was no need for hurrying. They laughed and they giggled. They shared their most intimate thoughts. Every caress sent them to a newer level of ecstasy, and kept binding them together as one. She still couldn't believe that all this love was for her. Sometimes, she felt like she would wake up from this dream and find herself alone, but it never happened. They would always be soul-mates through the end of time. He brought his face close to hers, and she opened her mouth to kiss him, to open herself to him. She stared into his eyes, and discovered that there was so much to discover about himself. It would take her a lifetime to fully discover him, and this was something that she knew that she would enjoy doing. They kissed with such force and passion that Karen's eyes seemed to widen in the sensation. They became one, and she would not let him go from her grasp. They shared everything and helped each other rise to the heights of love-making. Every experience was always a new one, and never the same twice. Every time they joined together, like this, she discovered new alternatives to pleasing him, and he with her as well. She was as fufilled as a woman could be, and it always seemed to bring tears to her eyes. Finally, it was over, and they lay entwined in each other's grasp, reveling in the closeness they felt. Of being one which nothing could separate them. Even in death, they would still be together, waiting for the day that they would never be seperated and for sharing all eternity together.
