Hello to all of the fine folks here at Carpenters Connection. It's just wonderful to be on board! Like all of you, my passion for the Carpenters stems from deep within my heart. Many a song & singer have caught my ear since I first fell in love with Karen and Richard's sound back in 1970 -- but to this day, their music touches my soul in a way that no other recording act has, before or since. I look forward to spending time on the forum when time permits, and until next time, wish you only the best. [glow=red,2,300]magiclamp[/glow]

Welcome! We look forward to your continued contribution and communication here. New York must be a good environment for Carpenter fans- there are at least 4 of you on the forum that I know of. I'm originally from the Adirondack region myself.

Welcome! We look forward to your continued contribution and communication here. New York must be a good environment for Carpenter fans- there are at least 4 of you on the forum that I know of. I'm originally from the Adirondack region myself. Hi ps11932, Thanks so much for your hearty welcome! Yes, NYC is a wonderful place to live, but as is often the case, sometimes you don't know what you have 'til it's gone. I say this because when my husband and I moved to Nashville in 1996 [we lived there until June of 2001}, I was thrilled to leave the city behind for a slower pace in TN. The first few years were fine, and I was happy to have made the move. But by year four, I knew I'd never call Nashville "home". In other words, you can take the kid of out NY, but you can't take NY out of the kid! LOL! Anyway, I really do feel a greater affinity with my hometown since we moved back in 2001. So much has changed since 9/11. People are much more extending to one another, more open and caring. I'm proud to be a NY'er and try to take advantage of all the city offers, - much more than I did before we'd moved to TN. RE: the beautiful Adirondacks where you live. My Dad spent most of his childhood summers up in Kingston, NY - and as children, my siblings and I loved making the drive upstate where we also enjoyed the outdoors. Swimming in ponds, tossing pebbles into the creeks and walking down country roads. I think it's a wonderful place to raise children, and I have precious memories of those years. Thanks again for saying hi, - and here's wishing you a good afternoon! Sincerely, magiclamp

Hey Magiclamp, I FINALLY know where I recognize those lyrics from...the ones under your avatar, that is. Natalie Cole, right? Well, actually, I suppose Nat wrote the song (I'm guessing, I'm not for sure ) - Nature Boy, but I remember that Natalie sang it on her album "UNFORGETABLE." I kept rolling them over in my head, because I didn't really recognize the name of the tune, but I DID recognize those lyrics, but couldn't quite come up with a melody for them, until just now. Okay, whew! I'm all better now. So you're in New York? Very cool. I love the city, and my wife and I visit there every chance we get. Hopefully, we'll be making a pilgramage up there very soon to meet Palma Pascale and Fred Guarino. I'm looking forward to THAT. Have a super day, and again, A great big welcome to you. Best, Tim

Thanks, magiclamp, for all your grerat contributed poststhus far, and for the good endorsement of being "back home" after you all lived in Tn. for a number of years. I've lived here in Chicago for over 30 years and even though we don't get back to Upstate N.Y. as often as weused to, it's never far from my thoughts, heart and prayers. Best to you and yours, O.E.

Hi MagicLamp... just wanted to let you know I finally took a look at your web site and read all the bios. Sounds like you've enjoyed some great successes in the music business. I remember the 1979 disco song "Dario, Can You Get Me Into Studio 54" by the duo you were part of Dana And Gene. I heard it a few times in some of the local clubs here in Southern California. I also remember seeing the title listed on a chart from one of my local music stores in 1979(?).

Hi Rick, You are waaaay too kind, and I am completely embarrassed. LOL! I must admit, "Dario....Studio 54" was not the record I'd hoped to make back when I was recording. But when you're young, and eager to make a dent in the music industry, you take the opportunities that present themselves, - and that's what Dario was for me. A terrific opportunity and a stepping stone towards other more rewarding experiences. It's a thrill that you [or anyone!] even remember this insignificant record. :oYou can only imagine how much this Carpenters fan wanted to make a REAL record, - something I could "sing" ~ and having to record disco made it that much more miserable for me! Speaking of the 70's, I will never forget the day I found out the publisher I was signed to, {Dick James Music} had gotten a hold for three of their writers, for a song they owned the publishing on. I spoke with one of the writers that afternoon, who said this was a dream come true for him. Why? Because the act that was going to cover the tune was none other than.... THE CARPENTERS! The song, "Can't Smile Without You". Somewhere, I believe I still have the original sheet music the writer signed to me. Will have to dig around for it, and if I find it, - will share! Oh well, we all made it through those disco-70's, - and have lived to tell the tale! Congrats to us all! Kindest regards, Dana ..... a.k.a. magiclamp

Very interesting maiclamp. I really look forward to hearing "Dario..." again. The song is a faint memory to me - since I haven't heard it in atleast 25 years. But, I do remember hearing it for several months in certain night clubs - I think primarily in L.A. And, I also remember seeing the song title on a dance music chart - you just don't forget a song title like that.
