I'm going way down south to Louisiana, tonight Well, I'll just close my eyes And everything's alright And though I'm really far away I'll make my get away And no one need really Know that I've been gone
One more time for the good times That far out weigh the bad One more time for the good times When love was all we had
I'm going way down south to Baton Rouge Well, I'll just close the door And turn out all the lights And all the images dance by Of folks and friends who lie Back home where things are slow And easy going
One more time for the good times That far out weigh the bad One more time for the good times When love was all When love was all When love was all we had One more timeWhat is your personal interpretation or thoughts on the lyric of this song?

My first impression is that the singer is homesick and for whatever reason he/she can't go home (yet).

These are interesting lyrics...I think the eprson is homesick but also love sick...a lost love which has left only memories for her to recall. Somehow the line "one more time for the good times"...seems to perhaps mean she needs to find a place away from the people she's currently with, so she seeks the darkness of her room to gather her thoughts and think of the good times. the good times "when love was all we had" seems to tell that even tho there were more good times than bad in the relationship, ...still the bad has to be counted with the good, and some stuff went on ...perhaps just different directions in life, and whatever that stuff was, it interfered too much,so much so there was a break-up.
therefore, looking back in recollection, she longs to go back to the happier times, "when love was all we had." .................................boy, that newest icon here with the boats really match up with this song...s

"...Well I'll just close my eyes and everything's alright..." - So, we know she is escaping reality by closing her eyes, and thinking of being "...way down south to Louisiana, tonight..." She does not physically have to go - all she has to do is close her eyes, and bam! She's there! Actually, this is reitterated by the next few lines... "...And though I'm really far away..." meaning, I think, far away from where she wants to be - i.e. Louisiana - "..I'll make my get away and no one need really know that I've been gone..." So, by "getting away" in her dream, no one will have a clue about any of it...they will never know (unless someday she decides to tell them).
"...ONE MORE TIME FOR THE GOOD TIMES THAT FAR OUTWEIGHT THE BAD...ONE MORE TIME FOR THE GOOD TIMES WHEN LOVE WAS ALL WE HAD..." I get the feeling that by closing her eyes and losing herself in this fantasy, she will be back together with a very special love in her life - apparently what they "had" that was wonderful was the love - probably weren't really wealthy, or "have" a lot of "things", but they did have each other, and during the time they had this beautiful relationship, when love was all they had - they had more good times than bad times.
She gets more specific about her plans in the next verse, telling us where in Louisiana she'll be going.... I think the "door" is a metaphor for her ability to close her eyes and dream....once she closes the "door" she is able to once again be back in that place she loved so much with the one she loved so much....when the good times far outweighed the bad.....
A beautiful song, and this is my interpretation of it. Tim
