Rick,
Everyone has said the same as what I feel. You have created a wonderful place for all of us to gather and we have appreciated the time we have had so far.
You need to think of you and your time with family and friends also. I can certainly relate to this. I have had to do just that which is one of the reasons why I have not been spending as much time on here as I have in the past.
Do what your heart tells you. One good thing about this forum is that if it were to dissolve (even though you hope to keep the forum going), our friendships that we've made could hopefully continue through regular emails.
Take good care,
Beaner (Mary Ann)

Simply put... You all are great! Rick, I know I don't have to post this - you know from our many discussions how I feel about this. But the important thing is - "do what's good for you, or you're not good for anybody" -those words are actually lyrics to one of my favorite Billy Joel songs, "James". But they are well said, and I have to remind myself of them, too. You must do what is going to be best for Rick... The words to Billy Joel's song "James" struck a responsive chord in me when I first heard it many years ago. Similar musically and lyrically to Elton John and Bernie Taupin's song "Daniel", this bittersweet ode acknowledges how one might have compromised personal goals, ideals and visions from within due to external pressures, trials and tribulations from life experiences. The real-life James, who inspired this song and eventually became an optometrist, played in one of Billy Joel's earlier bands but did not record any studio albums. James We were always friends from our childhood days. And we made our plans, And we had to go our sep'rate ways. I went on the road, You pursued an education. James Do you like your life? Can you find release? And will you ever change? Will you ever write your masterpiece? Are you still in school Living up to expectations? James You were so relied upon, Ev'rybody knows how hard you tried. Hey Oh, look at what a job you've done, Carrying the weight of fam'ly pride. James You've been well behaved, you've been working hard But will you always stay Someone else's dream of who you are? Do what's good for you Or you're not good for anybody. James I went on the road, You pursued an education. James How you gonna know for sure? Ev'rything was so well organized. Hey Oh, now ev'rything is so secure, and ev'rybody else is satisfied. James Do you like your life? Can you find release? And will you ever change? When will you write your masterpiece? Do what's good for you Or you're not good for anybody. James

I happened to come across a video clip of Billy Joel performing "James" at youtube.com/watch?v=kA_KxHsmJ6EHere is another great song of his, "Prelude to Angry Young Man", showcasing his excellent keyboard work along with Liberty DeVitto (who was also on Karen's solo album) prominently featured on drums at youtube.com/watch?v=ErPywgiMb4kRick, I know I don't have to post this - you know from our many discussions how I feel about this. Dreams, GREAT find. Early, early Billy, and excellent. It has inspired me to sit down this afternoon and view Live from Lond Island - one of my favorite concerts of Billy's - early in his career, but not so early as this rendition of James. Yes, not only did Liberty DeVitto play on Karen's solo album, but in the line-up of backup singers in this video are also Doug Stegmeyer and Russell Javors - two others of Billy's band that played on Karen's solo effort. Also shown is Richie Canata (soprano sax) and I don't recognize the fellow playing the rhythm instrument! You've also inspired me to finally sit down and write about my experience during the last Joel concert I attended....will attempt to post that before the weekend is through. Excellent video......and remember, "...do what's good for you, or you're not good for anybody..." Tim

James WOW Thanks Dreams for posting those B. joel clips....excellent!! Also for the words to james...I never have heard either of those until now...while i was viewing those on you tube, I also watched the "For the longest Time' clip ...it's superb also. The Longest time clip also answered a nagging question that's been in the back of my brain since thinking of B. Joel...for the longest Time song is one which was used in a homemade cd my nephew fixed up for my brother and his wife's anniversary a few yrs. ago. I always liked that song although...in some way it seems a little odd w/ the words in there "I don't know how long this will go on...I'll take my chances"... ::)My bro. and wife have been married about 35 yrs.!...well, anyway, I guess my nephew put that in there just as a type of "chuckle"...hmmm.. I DO love B. J. 's "My Life"...that's next to my other fave of his which is i think "River of Dreams"...(?)
